Thanks everyone for wishing me luck, I know it’s once in blue moon that one find a nice agent at least I was not expecting her to provide me information that my file is in Veg also that “ I may hear from them earlier than expected”. up till now every agent I spoke to has given me the same old reply of eight month time frame so I am sure it’s the same case for most of us. I am praying for all of us to hear positive news before Christmas

yes, everytime i call, they said 8 months to wait after AIP.............-.- sigh, i just got my AIP in Dec 2012, which means I will hv to wait till August2013..

btw, anyone knows how long they spend checking on security background of family in home country??! cos i do think this is the main reason for delay and surprises

Hello Everyone,

How do you get DM? Via normal mail, via email, it just appears on the ecas and then you get the letter from your VO about your landing interview?

I know for some of you it might seem a stupid question but I dont know what to check now that I got AIP and OWP p.s. we got the 2 AIP letters via email.

My ecas has never been updated for over a year, then I checked last week and on my ecas (applicant) shows that they started to process my PR on Dec 5 2012 and medicals have been received.

I really hope, as most of us, to get DM before Christmas

Hey everyone,

Me and my husband had our marriage interview today at the CIC office in Montreal. It was a crazy experience for both of us, and absolutely nothing like what we expected. It was almost 4 hours long, and one of the most difficult experiences of my life. We were interviewed separately, and although 99% of our answers matched up, the IO still gave us a really hard time, especially me (the sponsor).

The main issue she had was with the timing of our marriage and why my husband switched degrees so many times. She basically implied that my husband married me for a visa (we got married 2 months after he ran out of status, he tried to get it renewed and was in school when we were married but it didn't work out). All I could do was answer firmly but politely that our marriage had nothing to do with my husband's lack of status, and that we did it for our own happiness.

She asked a few other questions, mostly about our parents, and looked at the 150 photos we brought. I think my husband's interview was better, she was hard with him at first but lightened up halfway though.

AT THE END she said that the interview "went well" and that she had a "good feeling about this" after my husband asked. We told her about our consultant troubles at the end, and she said she'd be sending us a letter about her decision within the week. She told us we were a young couple but "very mature" as we left, and on the way out she told my husband that everyone makes mistakes with school, and if he hadn't let himself go out of status she wouldn't have had to call us in for an interview at all- our file would have been approved right away.

-I offered her the 4 letters we got from our landlord, neighbours, and our best friends attesting to our marriage and relationship, and she said she wouldn't need them. She kept the lease from my husband's old appartment that I cosigned, and a bank bill from 2 years ago when I was living with him. She seemed much nicer and chattier at the end. My husband faxed her more info about why he changed programs so many times a few hours back.

I'm so scared that I'm even shaking right now and I've had about 6 mental breakdowns. Did she give us a good sign at the end??? My husband, and all our friends we've talked to since the interview seem to think so. Does anyone have a similar experience? I don't understand why it matters if someone changes courses. People do it all the time. But anyway congested on a successful interview

It sounds like she was fine. If you offered here positive evidence that she declined to take and then she refuses you, then you would have clear grounds for your appeal. If she was refusing such evidence, it sounds like she didn't think it was necessary because she was already satisfied.

We started our family during the waiting phase so I never applied for OWP as it’s not possible to keep twofold obligations concurrently. I too am dying to go to Caribbean, heard a lot about the beaches and tropical climate would love to discover US Virgin Island as well but I am not allergic to cloudy weather coz I have seen enough sunlight and heat during my four years in Dubai I know it sounds crazy for some people but I still go bonkers seeing snow fall .
I am still unable to get my OHIP because the lab where I had my medical kept the original letter of CIC and unfortunately that’s the only acceptable document for applying OHIP by ministry. I was told to wait till I am through with my second phase as there is no other way.
Don’t worry you will soon have dual celebrations of PR and belated Honey moon

Hey again everyone,

The IO changed her mind today. My husband called her this morning to say that I had faxed his 2008/2009 university transcript from my work, and she said that she has reconsidered her decision and would need more proof...basically everything she didn't want to take yesterday.She says that she doesn't believe his intention to get married to me because he loves me, but that he's stayed in a relationship with me for over 2 years to get status. She says she believes we live together, and that I love him, but she thinks he's lying.

The IO told my husband that he lied to her because she asked him when he found out he was colourblind he said 2008 when his optometrist said 2009 (she called the optometrist as well). My husband just didn't remember. We didn't meet until 2010, but she says that his bad marks from 2008 and 2009 are proof that he never wanted to study, and just wanted to find someone to sponsor him for residency (which ended up being me).

I called her today and explained that there's no incentive for him to fake a relationship for status - people want to get residency to have a job and to have money a good lifestyle...and these are all the things my husband left behind in Morocco. If he was to leave now and go back there, he would have a beautiful house, expensive car, nice clothes, and a million dollar inheritance that he can't have access to now. He doesn't face any discrimination in his country, his parents are extremely well off, and he only came here in the first place because getting a diploma is important to his parents and extended family, and Canada was the only place that spoke French. My explanation didn't make a difference. Our plans for the future (having kids, which we told about) financial information, cards and the interview don't matter and she told me that. All she wants if proof of my husband's intention when he came here....it was 4 years ago and there's no way to prove it. We sent everything we could think of in the mail - transcripts that my husband's parents pay our rent, facebook chats, even our original birthday/ anniversary cards that we'll probably never get back (no time for photocopies because she said today was the deadline). She already talked to my husband's father, his optometrist, and my landlord and our neighbour called and left messages which she hasn't returned. I don't know what else to do.

I've accepted that we'll have to leave Canada within the next few months..I'm 99% sure she'll refuse because there's no way for us to prove what my husband was thinking 3-4 years ago, when he was 18, young and stupid.

What more can I ask for when I have a company of such wonderful folks with me ? Insha'Allah Time will fly and we will be cherishing every moment of our journey soon and may able to forget the hardships as well. I did call lab couple of times but they said they sent the original to CIC I am really not buying their story but what else can I do?
