i'm in Quebec..

:P quebec people are complicated..

DecisionMade, you are right about that! Regarding health card, in my experience, the effectivity of my card started on NOv 1 (based from AIP issed AUG31) and this card was sent by mail and it's also good for 1 year, and the agent told me that once I get my PR, I can just go back to update it with RAMQ. The agent told me that they usually give only 1 year duration for people with AIP. Also do not expect you card to aarive exactly in Dec 1, wait for 3-4 days, mine came Nov 8.

I will try to go to SAAQ just to gather infromation.

AFAIK SAAQ driving licenses (exchanges, exams etc) for immigrants are handled at that Office in Montreal area
Better to call before going there as there is usually a 6 to 8 weeks waiting time for an appointment

Ask your MP to inquire about your file.

Order your case notes via the "access to information and privacy" office at CIC (search for "privacy" on the CIC website, it's the first several links that come up.) Since you are in Canada there is no charge for doing so. Were I in your shoes, I'd order them every 30 days.

Send a case-specific enquiry to CPC-V. You are now far beyond normal processing time.

Otherwise, you can always hire an attorney and go to Court - it is the one thing that absolutely causes CIC to kick into high gear. When you ask the Court for "Mandamus" (which means the Court orders CIC to make a decision in a fixed period of time) CIC's usual response is to complete your application rather than try to explain to a Federal Judge why they are taking so long.

Hi ComputerGeek,

I am more or less in the same situation. My application was received in Sept 6th 2011, in July 18th 2012 CIC asked me for further evidence of my common-in-law relationship, which CIC received on August7th 2012. Since then, NOTHING. I called CIC last Monday and the agent asked me to re-send again the further evidence of my common-in-law relationship because CIC lost it, which I did and CIC received the new batch on November 23rd 2012.
I also received my FOSS notes on November 20th 2012 and waiting to receive them. My MP has just been elected last Monday - the position has been vacant for few months.

My plan is to make an appointment with my MP as soon as I receive FOSS notes. Do you think it's better for me to proceed this way or it might been better to hire a lawyer?

Just to add our case is simple: no previous marriages, no kids, no criminal records and my medicals have been received and I am totally healthy.

Thank a lot in advance.

There's no perfect answer here. If CIC lost your paperwork and just received the new paperwork the best thing to do is to give them a couple of months to process it and get back to you.

This is one reason why I suggest requesting notes: they tell you when CIC receives paperwork. When you notice they haven't received something you can resubmit sooner.

ComputerGeek,

Thank you so much for your reply!

One thing I learnt from this process is patience :)

Hey Aiman,

have you tried getting foss notes? maybe they lost something? or have you tried contacting your local MP? your application timeline started two months before mine, that's a long time! considering now people are getting their landing process done less than a year. mine took 14 months and I thought its long. I would talk to local MP to put an inquiry for your case to see whats going on.

good luck.

Hey folks

I recieved my AIP and had to do a new medical as my first one had expired, does anybody have a rough idea of timescales from completing that to update on ECAS or what may happen next etc? I'm hoping they didnt wait for my medical to begin security screenin. I imagine they would though so I'm probably still a few months away from resolution.

I had my medical yesterday (28th Nov 2012)

Thanks
Kenny
