I agree with you! i'm an applicant from Nov. 2010.... they transferred our file last year to the local office... Oct. 19- and that will be a year tomorrow! isn't that insane????? NOT fair! We submitted additional proofs andI can make a book out of it.... OMG! why oh why!

Well I don't think the fact they work fast on "simple and straight forward" 2012 applications means they are not working on older cases. My guess is that most unfinished cases from 2011 and even more the 2010ers requires more scrutinity for whatever reasons.
There was also a controversy in spring and summer 2011 when CIC were busy implementing the new computer system and some people got landed in 6 months passing in front many people probably to test the new system.
But here I don't think this is the case; I however sympatise with people concerns and frustration if their case is not handled as fast as some others...

It's definitely not fair I applied in June 2011 I got AIP in April 2012 and at the same time they asked me to renew my passport and I haven't gotten anything even since.. It's frustrating but if you actually follow up with the CIC update on their website you'll see that they're trying to clean up the backlog on the first stage... Wen I applied it was 11-12 month wait for first stage now it's 5month...

true! The worse part of it all is that I can't go home to the Philippines. I haven't seen my son for 2 years already... well there is skype but ofcourse it's still different when you can hug and kiss your child :(

Did your family try applying for visa and coming to visit you... 2 years is a really long time... can't even imagine what is like for you...

Why can't you go home? My husband is in a work permit too, and he is going out of Canada all the time...

How long do you usually have to wait after you get the letter for second stage DM before the local office contact you?
Are there anyone here landing in Edmonton?
If so, how long did you wait between getting the letter from CIC and getting the contact from local office?

it all depends on location and how busy they are. mine took about 10 days to get a letter from local office and the date was set for 2 weeks later, the date on my second stage letter is Sep,25th and the date for my landing is Oct,26th so 1 month!

. We did not try applying visa because for sure they will just refuse it. If my son applies there is no reason that he will still come back to the philippines because i am here already. So for sure they will just reject the application. :(
