Thanks Serendipity! Didn't even think to get my medicals redone until reading your earlier posts. So helpful! Congrats on all your good news, must be such a huge relief! :)

I don't know how much of an effect the expiry's of medicals and police certificates play in their decision

The police certificates and medicals for my wife expired long before our app was processed

peru, japan police certs arrived october 2010 and medical done in December of 2010

App received Jan 28, 2011
DM Jan 17, 2012
Letter Jan 20, 2012
Landing Jan 23, 2012

At least it didn't matter in our case, i think it was more of how we packaged our application and the proof we sent.

Hi, I am trying to reply to a personal message but I get an error saying that I am not allowed to send personal messages.

Do any of you have the same problem and do you know how to fix it?

Thanks!

PS: By the way, I did not send the RCMP background checks with my application

You have to reach certain number of posts to be able to use personal messaging... I just don't know how many posts... Anybody?

Hello, I'm in Montreal too, and in Quebec you need to apply for SCQ, what I don't know if once you started your sponsorship application you have to change it, or not, maybe you should ask it to a lawyer. I knew a girl who came from Toronto, she couldn't study during 6 months because she wasn't a Quebec permanent resident and she hadn't worked here. So she was told that she needed to work al least during six months to get her SIN and to be able to study, I have no details at all, but that's what I can tell you, so maybe you should ask an expert.

Misha you're right, but I think in Montreal if people want to get a good job, they need to speak both, french and english. In my case is the opposite, my english is not fluently and not as good either. That's why I come to this forum, to learn by reading what you guys write. :)

hey missha,

My ecas says that they received our application on September 20th, 2011 and then that they started processing our application on January 3rd 2012. I'm the sponsor and my fiance's ecas does not state that they've started processing yet, so I'm not sure if that's just the sponsorship?

Also, we're thinking of moving to Montreal soon. I guess it's important that we update our address with CIC as soon as we move because that will affect the landing office? Does it change the process to immigrate to Quebec vs other provice

That's what CIC says about Police certificates:

Who needs a police certificate?

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

If the original certificate is neither in English nor in French, submit both the certificate and the original copy of a translation prepared by an accredited translator with your application.

As it is true you can study wherever u want, if u study in quebec and own a CSQ (Which u probably wont be able to get after ur PR) you can study french for free and also u get a very low price to study in the universities.

Also i dont think it is a good idea you do not tell them.. It is kidna of misleading and if they find out you might get into trouble. If i were you i would notify them of every step you do.

Foofy and Sievo,

It has nothing to do with ethics here.

1) I assumed of whatever information given that the sponser is not going to change his residency and the spouse's immigration is going through Manitoba. They will be living in Montreal for whatsoever reasons while applicant is keeping his immigration from Manitoba.

Sponser can change the residency to Quebec but the spouse's is a question-mark. As the spouse is going through immigration from Manitoba. CIC would get confused if provided by documents right now as Quebec has whole lot of different immigration process and paperwork. CIC would contact applicant for either file the immigration again through Quebec or they could keep the file on hold and ask the application for necessary documentation from Quebec which are called " Additional documents" in CIC terminology and they take 3-4 months to attach documents to files. That will clearly result in slowing down the application. I am totally using my analytical skills here.

No where in the clause written that CIC should be informed of all of your tiny bit of your movement anywhere in Canada BUT If asked, do not lie. Upon their questioning, Tell them logically that you decided to go through the immigration from Manitoba as in your opinion, it was already in process and you just had to move to Montreal but you didnt change your residency.

I was just suggesting him to save his time and CIC's. Get everything done from Manitoba, it will just save time for his spousal application. Trust me, Seivo, will be done by July-Aug 2012. 8-9 more months to go.

On the other hand, yes, I am not sure about studying in Quebec but I do know about that my husband's medical is valid till 6 months and then he has to pay to doctors and get it reimbursed by OHIP. He is carrying on his same job from Ontario, so it was not a problem for job hunting.

2) Another thing that i recommended him to ask this question by calling CIC as a general question. In my very personal opinion, sometimes agents judge you based on what you have filed and give different opinion than if you ask the same thing as a general question. Again, it has nothing to do with ethics here as well. Agents dont bother to know your backgrounds but just answer what you questioned.

Thanks Missha, I agree.

Frankly, it never occured to me before today that moving to Quebec could cause any issues. She's applying to be a PR in Canada, with Immigration Canada, being sponsored by a Canadian. We just happen to want to live somewhere else (in Canada) while it's being processed.

I'll let you know when I talk to CIC.

I am a lil shy in speaking french, i guess my accent is very american-ish french. I am good with theoretical french, speaking french is hard.

Yeah, speaking another language can be intimidating, but it's the only way to get better! :D Stick with it! It can't hurt to be immersed.

If processing for sponsorship and applicant is the same, then ECAS says January 3rd.

Well, it is good old Wednesday again. I can't say I am thrilled with the 6 day jump but I guess something is better then nothing. Our thread seems to be done with January but they are obviously still working on filed from jan.21

Serendipity, congratulations again. You guys must be thrilled. Which office r u landing in?

Guys, from now on when you get your landing letter, can u state which office you will be landing in do missha can update the chart. Thanks

Updated from CIC: (working on applications received on January 21, 2011), anyway, still a jump ::)
I think Serendipity is landing in Scarborough, remember once (s)he mentioned it in previous post.

I agree! I am learning my husband's language and I tell you, being able to talk with his grandparents and parents makes me feel more welcome to his family!

Same thing with my Ecas, I'm the sponsor and it says started processing dec 13 on mine but it doesn't says on my husband's Ecas, just says when they received the application.

And good luck to all of us! And congratulations to everyone who got AIP and DM! Makes waiting bearable seeing positive results!

Hi! So I mentioned a few pages back that I haven't been able to log into the eCas using our official receipt number, so you guys recommended I discover my client id number ... I just heard back from my lawyer and according to him, I don't have one. Is this normal, not having a client id number? (According to the official receipt, they received my application in late May 2011). He says he'll get me other info so that I can log into eCas, but I'm a bit worried... :-[
