Hey Lab,

still nothing?

I called CIC last week and they told me to call back in a month - what a surprise haha. My further info hadn't been attached to my application yet. This is just a nightmare. Cannot understand why it's taking so long.
I did my medical at the end of July, so they should be in the system by the end of this month - well, that's what i hope. When it come to Immigration Canada you never really know how long it's gonna take

Trying to keep my optimism high, but sometimes it's harddddddd

Just few days ago my fiance noticed I had quite a few white hair and he started to joke me around and I told him that's your country's Immigration fault haha

Yeah, I totally understand you and I always try to smile and think my day will come and etc. but sometimes when I see people who are done with all this process and they applied around my date, I so BLOODY JEALOUS!!! I think its a mix of both hahaha

I have lived in Australia for almost 3 years and my 4 year business visa got approved in 6 hrs and my medical I had to do for that visa got inside the system in 1 day. I cannot understand why Immigration Canada doesn't learn from other countries to make the process smoothy, I think CIC would also save tons of money. At the end Canada is one of the most advanced and multicultural countries of the world! I think I should just stop thinking and once I get my OWP I will apply for a job inside CIC

They started processing the sponsorship application on September 12, 2011 and a letter was sent on June 19, 2012.
They started processing the permanent residence application on June 19, 2012 and I received both the AIP and OWP letter on June 25, 2012.
I did my medical on the July 18, 2012 and I just saw a recent update on e-CAS saying that they have received my medical results.
Can anyone share their experience of how long you hear/see any changes after medical result have been received?

hi pcheng I don't have the answer for your question but we have the same situation, I did my medical after my AIP, but I didn't apply for work permit, so if you don't mind, I am tagging along with you . Hope someone will answer your question

Hey guys,

First congrats to all who got there AIP and DM. I have an issue, my passport is with CBSA and I went there a couple of days ago requesting the release of my passport sense it was expired and CIC needed me to renew it and they told me that we can't give it to you until CIC requests your passport, I have no idea what am supposed to do now CIC needs it to be renewed and submitted by October 24 with me police Clearance back home is there anyway I can get CBSA to renew my passport?or give it back to me so I can renew it?

CBSA wouldn't accept the letter from CIC saying that you needed to renew your passport?

If so, you may wish to inquire with your embassy/consulate if you can obtain a travel document (or alternatively a replacement passport WITHOUT the old one - should be similar to the case if it was lost.) CIC will accept a travel document.

You could also send a letter to CIC with a copy to CBSA saying that CBSA has your passport and requires written request from CIC for its release to you.

But before I join your party... I have to tell you guys that I have to re-do my medical through a long waited phone call. I didn't get any letter for my AIP yet, the letter is suppose to ask me to re-do my medical.

Well this may not cheer you up, but I'm probably going to be in the same boat with you, so can commiserate.
Mailed my application in December 2011, but had already done my medicals in May of 2011. So I'll probably have to do them again. I was hoping they might extend my medicals under that new policy they have, but who knows. Maybe I should schedule an exam for November/December and then cancel if I don't need it. How long will it take for you to get an appointment? But I would be happy just to get AIP and OWP in November. That would be a thrill.

So, I've been trying to change just my sponsor's e-mail address.
Gave up on the telephone. You guys who got through are real troopers in my opinion.
As was suggested by the CIC website, I sent an e-mail to question@cic.gc.ca and got an automated response back that say it would take 20 days to respond to my question. My e-mail program noted that they opened the e-mail a day later. That is promising.
What I don't understand is why they don't include the ability to change your e-mail address along with your land address.

Hi there, our timeline is very similar! They received my application on August 5 and I received my AIP on June 25. I had not sent the work permit request with my application but I did right after I got my AIP. I received my work permit yesterday and I am applying for jobs. I sent the request online on July 6 so it takes a while to get here. They sent me a letter requesting my police certificates from Brazil again, I had to get them mail from the local authority and it took me a while. It is all legally translated and with CIC now. It says medicals have been received in my CIC page so I guess we have to sit and wait. I don't know why it is taking so long for second stage but I hope it will be over soon. At least I can start working and that is a big step and I am very happy already.
