Information about Passport Renewal

Hi All,
I am working in Toronto with work permit. My company initiated the Visa extension and my passport is about to expire on next year March.
Could you please suggest the way to renew the passport either in Canada or going to India for renewal with short vacation? Kindly suggest the better way to get my Passport renew.
