Info on what happens if you are denied entry at the airport and more

Hello,

I am sponsoring my wife who is in S. Korea right now.
She got an exclusion order in April 2013 and left on April 7th 2013.
I had visited in October and filed the papers for marriage there.
I will be going back to S. Korea in April to hold the ceremony there and hopefully come back with her in May.
I know that she does not need to file ARC but would she have problems entering Canada because of her previous offense?
She received the order for overstaying her stay after her visa was expired.
If she is denied entry what would happen to her?
Would she go to airport lock-up?
We would be filling for spousal sponsorship after she arrives.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Since she received an exclusion order previously and has a history of overstaying - there's a good chance she will be examined closer when she attempts to re-enter the country in May. (And you're right - she does not need an ARC.) Whether she is allowed to enter Canada or not is anyone's guess. It will depend on the immigration officer(s) she encounters when she arrives.

It's impossible for any of us to say what will happen if she's refused entry again. Immigration may decide to hold her until the next flight home in which case she might find herself in airport lock-up for a period of time. Or she may be allowed into Canada temporarily (for a few hours) but order her to return in time for the next flight home. Again, impossible to say.

Bearing in mind that she will be entering solely as a "visitor", is it your intention that she will return back home after the visit?

If not, it's going to be hard to convince the CBSA officer at the border to admit her as a visitor.
It's quite possible that they may impose a quite short time limit via a "Visitor Record" even if they do admit her.

She will have a return ticket, she is visiting for the reception that will be held here. Return at the end of her allowed time and wait for our application to be finalized.
