Hi,
I need some info regarding Immigration Visa for Canada. Me and my wife are IT professionals with 5+ years of experience and planning to apply for Immigration Visa now. We are presently in US on L1 visa but might move to India in next 3-4 months. Should we apply our visa from US(Buffalo) or from New Delhi. If we move to India, should we take FBI & Police clearance before moving to India ? Also, if we are in US, do we need to submit our passport for stamping ? I am concerned as this will be an issue for me if my company asks me to go to India and my passport is not with me.
Thanks.

You can initiate your process now and in betn if you move to India, then inform about your change in address to CIC, they will advice accordingly.

Abt Passport for stamping, it will take atleast 6 months from the date you send ur app to CIC, so need not worry abt that.

PCC - CIC does not accept any PCC if they are 3 months old, so if u want to apply for FBI and other US state PCC before you move out of USA, then u need to be very sure abt ur time line.

Betn - I heard CHC ND is fast moving , better then Buffalo

your call...

Suggestion - Apply from USA and when ever you move out of USA, send change of communication address and tell them you have moved to home country.

-Good Luck

Thank you so much, pv. Also, could you please tell how much time does it generally take for file transfer (from buffalo to ND)?

@ PV - you can apply to Nova Scotia now and it will take atleast 2 months for you to get approval from them, thereafter you get 120 days time to send full application to local Visa office. If you will be back to India in 3-4 months you can send your application to CHC - New Delhi (which is faster than Buffalo). The only thing you will have to do is inform CIC - NS that you have moved to India. You can then apply to New Delhi without any problem.
