Yes, it's clear that the direct flight ban has everything to do with "Health Reasons" and nothing to do with "Political Reasons"

Delta variant spreading in the US is different from the one present in India and will have zero effect on Canada, everybody knows that.

Not sure why you are under the false impression that the delta variant is not the same in the US and India. You can also not trust Indian data. Your US data seems incorrect as well.

Canada has opened it's border with the US which is having a big outbreak of Delta variant so maybe it's different no?

Whatever be the reason for extension, it's the airlines and travel agents who are minting money making use of this circumstance... Personally, I want the direct routes to open as Canada is open for globe from Sep9 for fully vaccinated tourists if I'm not wrong... Going by that and considering a major percentage of Canadians are now vaccinated, the ban must be lifted.

Given that the extension is until Sept 21st there won’t be direct flights by Sept 9th. The majority of Canadians are not vaccinated. There still is a large amount of unvaccinated and under 12s can’t get vaccinated. Canada’s cases have been increasing and we still haven’t seen the effect of opening our borders to the US, to the rest of the world and back to school. Canada will have a hard time controlling our numbers with just that. Vaccinations don’t prevent people from transmitting covid or getting sick.

The name of each variant implies it is the same variant. The delta variant in the rest of the world seems to have originated from India much like the alpha variant seems to have originated in the UK. Yes the borders opening to the US has had an impact but there were already cases increasing and delta cases are also coming in from across the world and we no longer have hotel quarantine so travel has increased dramatically.

True. Vaccinations don't prevent ppl from getting covid. I have a lot of my friends and relatives who got infected after 2 doses of vaccines. They jus reduce the intensity of the virus. All those friends and relatives just had a mild flu'ish symptom for a week and they were back to normal...

Many people are still very ill even when vaccinated and can die plus they could get long covid so preventing infections is still the primary goal.

Election on September 20- I always maintained that the flight ban was political in nature , the timing is great
My best guess is that the flight ban will not be extended beyond September , but don’t come after me with a stick if it is extended

Does the London Heathrow airport have covid testing for transit passengers? I see some tests at the airport but I am not sure if they are for transit passengers.

70 percent Canadians are vaccinated . In world Vaccination rate is highest in Canada.
