You don’t need a visa if you have one of the following:

  • a visa for Canada, New Zealand, Australia or the USA (this can be used for travel to any country)
On a personal note,I was allowed visa free transit through UK back in January 2020 with valid Canada & US visa on an Indian passport.

God I wish you travel by this route. Please set an example by booking your ticket and giving us feedback through a youtube video @MZHSECA

I don't think 7 and a half hours is enough to get your covid test done especially considering they don't provide it at the airport. Also does they allow us to exit the transit area without a valid UK visa in case we need to test somewhere else?
I am not sure about the testing now at Heathrow because I have not been to Canada recently.

Is testing in UK required as per this page if the test has to be within 72 hrs before the direct flight to Canada:

Yes it is required for Indian travellers not anyone else I believe. I was mentioning this since most in this thread are from India as it seems(cause direct flight ban). So UK path is not viable for them. No issues for others tho.

OK, I understand now.Yes,Indian citizens begining their journey from India to Canada have to arrange testing for themselves in the last third country.
This link confirms this rule:

So,me personally,as an Indian national residing in Europe for years, I am currently neither affected by the flight suspension nor by this testing requirement by Canada

But,I personally advise that the route through UK to Canada, which I suggested earlier, must be avoided at all costs, by anyone in this forum, who will be beginning their journey from India.

The air bubble arrangement has an effect too, in addition to the Canada Gov option to travel through a third country.

Air France and KLM both restricts travel with Indian Passport to South America/Europe.
Lufthansa can take Indian Passport Holders to schengen area.
British Airways can take you to UK only. My understanding is that Indian Passport Holders cannot transit there.

So you have to travel to a South American / Schengen / African Country and initiate another travel with a new RT-PCR.
The only exception today is Qatar.
