"NCEMA said that a ban on entry to the UAE for passengers from these countries would also be lifted for those with valid residencies and who are certified by Emirati authorities as fully vaccinated."
I think there is the catch.
Yes. That's the catch. :( Damn

More I look at it, seems like transit is allowed but I am gonna get in touch with emirates , Etihad and FLy dubai right away to confirm. wait up friends
KK. I hope this ends up good. Also can someone give insight on transit covid test? Like how long it will take and how long should our transit wait in dbx. Also whether we should book two separate tickets to Dubai and from Dubai to Canada in case transit time is less for getting the results.

I think ABu dhabi gives result in 2 hours or maybe 1... Not sure bout Dubai...

This says that we can transit... Seems quite clear to me "NCEMA said on Twitter that passengers travelling from countries where flights had been suspended would be able to transit through its airports from Thursday as long as they present negative PCR tests taken 72 hours prior to departure.

Final destination approval would also have to be provided, the authority said, adding that UAE departure airports would arrange separate lounges for transiting passengers."

You can’t book two separate tickets , because you’ll need to pass through passport control in the UAE ( in other words enter the UAE ) and that won’t be allowed unless you’re a resident or whatever other exemption they’ve asked for as per this new update

It is good news as it would get easier to fly to destinations like Mexico. Tickets with halt in Dubai are much cheaper.

That’s right, however I’m seeing no Dubai effect at the moment- perhaps as the news spreads within the industry in the next few days we should expect to see a drop in ticket prices

Did you hear anything from them?

The UAE Transit news catch is that is that it wont work to satisfy the 2 basic criteria for entering Canada....

1) You need a RT PCR Test from a 3rd country before you enter Canada. The COVID Test facility at DXB or AUH is beyond passport control, so how do you get the test done when UAE immigation doesnt allow you through (assuming you are not a UAE resident)

2) Assuming I am wrong and there is a COVID test facility between arrival/departure halls, you still need to take the test and wait for the results and that could take anywhere from 6 hours to 12 hours...which means that you do need to book 2 separate tickets - India to UAE and then to UAE to Canada.

PS - Have transited through DXB just about 2 months back and did not notice any testing facility inside depart/arrival halls....correct me if I am wrong.

I don't think too many people are seeing the UAE as 'the third country' but rather as a layover country- for instance, Male -> Dubai / Abu Dhabi -> Toronto or Indian City -> Dubai -> Cairo/Kiev
Flights that go through Dubai are in general not as expensive as Doha and other hubs

Ok, Yeah that makes sense

Are parents of citizens exempt. Can they travel to Canada now from India? I booked a ticket for my mum Sep 1 from

Bom -> Dubai -> Toronto -> Vancouver -> Edmonton.

I know she has a PCR test in Mumbai and then one in Dubai and last one in Toronto. She has a 6 hrs stop in Dubai can she get a PCR test done?

Dubai doesnt offer PCR test YET for transit passengers but Abu Dhabi does...
