Maldives is also a good option right? Bombay/Delhi to Male, get RTPCR done. Then fly from Male to Abu Dhabi to Toronto? Any opinions?

That would work if you stay in Male for 14 days and then travel. Middle East has this 14 days prior to travel restriction from India.

Would Frankfurt work in that case? Male to Frankfurt to Toronto...

That's a good question.

Toronto (Canada) needs a COVID RTPCR test from the last point of departure, in this case, test should be done in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt (Germany) isn't allowing any testing for transiting passengers, hence this would not work.

Why you guys in this much rush , just wait and come once border is open. Your Visa has not been expired, you can still study then just stay and wait.
You know if CAnadian border officer has power to banned anyone from Canada for upto 10 years.

I haven't heard them banning anyone for 10 years who is trying to follow all the regulations set by Canadian Government.
Also, I am a Permanent Resident and there is no guarantee that restrictions will be lifted on Aug 21st, they have been extended 4 times and can be extended any number of times.
Case numbers are expected to rise in Fall and Winter, hence this is best chance to travel even though it is 3 times more expensive than normal.

Also, it is not a viable option for international students to defer a semester. This seems like the only option to leave

https://www.makemytrip.com/flight/s...Required=true&mpo=&intl=true&ccde=IN&lang=eng , it does have emirates flights and I spoke to an emirates respresentative yesterday

@NuthanP That's interesting and thanks for the search and link.

If this is the case then all our troubles would be solved. However, I think they are booking these in the anticipation that the ban on Indian travelers would be lifted on 31st July. and that's what we were discussing before.

Checking for current restrictions for UAE https://www.makemytrip.com/support/intl-travel/guideline.php?country=United Arab Emirates , this still says that they are currently not allowing anyone from India to board flights.

I hope that this changes soon.

No, indian passengers are allowed for transit only, i.e we can only pass through dubai to another country, atleast thats what emirates rep said

Have you booked for Mexico? I am planning for toronto between 17-20 August.

We can travel to Canada via Qatar from India. Provided you satisfy the following conditions.
  1. Be Fully Vaccinated to enter into Qatar (On Arrival Visa)
  2. Get a COVID negative test in Qatar before flying to Canada
Correct me if I am wrong.
