Hi Guys, is anyone going to do a walk-in in Toronto BLS (1448 Lawrence Ave E) let me know if we can go together, it's better to have company. I guess we have to go there early morning around 4 AM. I am thinking to go there on Sunday night technically Monday early morning for citizenship surrender. Thanks.
Unless you have any urgency, my advice is
1) go on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. These days have the lower wait times
2) avoid going at 4 AM. It is getting colder at night and not worth getting sick for a surrender certificate

My timeline if it's helpful to anyone:

Submitted walk-in application of passport surrender at Bls Brampton: 13th Oct
Processing at CG update: 14th Oct
Received surrender letter at home: 1st Nov

I submitted my application on the 17th of October and I'm yet to receive any update. I swear the surrey office is the worst.
@nivek : did you check you status under the passport dropdown option for your SC status ?

Someone was telling me that Toronto office doesnt accept many walkins.....so please be prepared

I see "surrnder certificate granted and is available for issuance" as the status update in the passport website. How long does it take post that to be updated in the BLS website and ready for collection at BLS.

Also, is it normal for people in the family to have the application processed on different dates?

I submitted my Surrender application in early October.
Status on Indian Consulate site changed to Certificate printed in the week of Oct 17th.
Just called up BLS and they have dispatched the certificate.
So average processing time is 3-4 weeks for the Surrender Certificate.

And OCI takes another 8 weeks (Approximately)
I wish Indian Consulate had clubbed both these applications together.
Wishing for sequencing is too wishful. They only want $$$ to surrender and then apply. BLS will make less fees in that course.

squeeze every penny for the person going away
