Hi All,

Today April 12,2023, I Submitted my Passport Surrender application at BLS Brampton,
Can someone please guide me for the next steps and processing times.

They Charge me $196 for (Passport surrender fee + Drop off Courier fee + Photo) is this normal ?

1 month for processing
in a day or 2 login to the https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html and follow the status on this portal under the application that you had filled up
Once the status status says "Surrender certificate has been printed" on this website.
Track the status on the BLS website

They charged you 50$ more than regular postal application. In person is always a scam as they will refuse your photo even if it's perfect and take a new one.

this is so bad and I drove all the way from Niagara to Brampton just for my Passport Surrender.

Hi all, trying to get an understanding of the steps involved for passport surrender. My postal surrender application status on the Passport Seva website says that the Surrender Certificate is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate - does that mean the only next steps are sending to BLS, printing and then courier back to me? Any ideas around what the timeline will look like now, and how long it takes?

@antman88 - Did you get an update on your application? I too have a similar status on my app for SC.

Surrender certificate has been granted and is available for issuance. is the second last stage
after that
Surrender certificate has been printed is the follow on stage
After that... aap OCI ke katar main hain... kripya jeb dheeli karke prateeksha karein

1) What's the software or tool to use to upload the photo as per OCI requirements ?
2) I see status Surrender certificate is printed for all 3 on CGI portal now. Where I'll see the tracking # ? Will it be underneath the status page ?

same here. adults' files status is printed. minors' status is available for issuance. bls says for everyone - processing at cgi.

Sorry to butt in but once you upload the photo after your submit the application the OCI website itself will allow you to crop the photo
But my suggestion is to at least us Microsoft Paint like application to get the photo cropped and then use the tool on the OCI website to guide you through. Pixel wixel does not matter even though they said there it has to xyz specs

And for surrender certificatre courier delivery will the courier tracking link appear under status part on BLS website ? Or have to chekc sopme where else. it's been week iit says Surrender certificate is printed on CGI site

There's a text box asking for Canadian passport number in the online application to surrender my Indian Citizenship. However, that text box isn't a mandatory field, so I'm able to proceed with the application without having to fill in my Canadian passport number.

So my question is, can I go ahead and submit my Indian Citizenship Surrender Application while waiting for my Canadian passport to arrive? I plan on walking-in to the BLS office and getting it done with ASAP.

You need the Canadian passport to surrender the Indian passport/citizenship.
Previously without having the Canadian passport and providing a letter declaring that you are in the process of getting your Canadian passport, BLS used to accept, but it does not accept it any longer

If you still do not see a tracker update on BLS website i.e. "Ready for collection" or purolator tracking# you can email the following:

• servicehq.canada@blsinternational.net

to enquire about the status of your document and ask them to provide the tracking#

agree with @abbas.pasha .

1) while oci portal allows you to crop, do it beforehand. i use the stock photos software that comes with windows 11/office to open n edit pics. it has a v easy "resize" option where you can put in pixels or mm/cm sizes and the photo will get adjusted.

2) yes mine are all showing as printed in NRI passport seva, and BLS portal says in transit from CGI to BLS, so i guess a week more at the most for these to reach me.

lastly, bhai teacher ke hotey hue doosre student se question pooch rahe ho! reminds me of the scene where Gita Phogat tries to teach techniques to Babita Phogat in front of the father. soch lo bhai....
