Hi Guys

I am getting abit tensed now. My previous employer is not ready to mention my duties on the relieving letter.

Here is the complete situation

I used to work for ABC company 7 years ago. I have contacted them several times to help me out with regards to my duties to be put on the letterhead. However they have refused several times that they can not do it and can only send me a simple reference/relieving letter which has the basic stuff like, tenure and position that I worked in.

I have been able to connect with a very senior colleague who used to work with me in ABC company but he has now moved to another company XYZ. He is ready to help me with regards to the job duties I performed in ABC. He is ready to write down the list of duties and sign it and attach his business card as well.

So do you think I should include the following to gain points for my work experience:
1>Include the reference letter that has been given to me by my company ABC, giving basic details about my employment with them.
2>An affidavit, stating that ABC company is not ready to mention my duties and hence I have described my duties in that affidavit
3>The letter given to me by one of my senior colleagues which mentions some of my duties that I had performed with ABC company (Please remember me and my x colleague work for different companies now)
4>All the employment letters + confirmation of employment letter + annual salary letter

Any suggestions are welcomed. Kindly help

How I did : I asked my manager to give me a reference letter with Jobs and duties. Then I called up HR stating that I am applying for Canada, and gave them the Checklist form which contains the artifacts which are requested or pointed out in Section 12".

I actually had no issues at all. I was stalled once like you, but thankfully, all got resolved.

Thanks for your response..
But I just wanted to ask, that me and my senior colleague dont work for that company anymore. We used to work there 7 years ago. Can he still write the reference letter for me stating that he knows me, and we used to work together and he canalsomention my duties on a plain piece of paper with his signatures and his business card (which is not the same company we used to work for). Does his reference need to be on affidavit.

If you are claiming points for that experience (which I guess is not reqd as above 6 yrs you anyway get 15 points) then you must also mention the duties and responsibilities.

I would suggest you to go meet them in person, and prepare a hard copy of the roles and responsibilities, and then ask them to take a print out of the same on the company letterhead and the signatures and stamp.

I dun think cic will check 7 yr old experience, people shift.., and it is understandable to them as well...

Your most recent experience should be your prime concern.
