Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is doing fine?

With regards to POF I will be applying for a fixed deposit account soon which would show the required sums. Now my questions are as follows:

1> For how long should I create this fixed deposit account. Example 6 months, 1 year, 2 year??

2> I will make a fixed deposit account in November and will apply for FSW in December. Is that fine? Or should the fixed depost have een more than
6 months old before applying for FSW?

3> Does the fixed deposit account have to be only and only in my name?

4> I think when you apply for a fixed deposit account, you need to include a nominee, just in case of an event like death of the main account holder
of that fixed deposit, the money can then be given to the nominee. Is that going to be a problem, as I have a second person on the account who is
a nominee?

5> Can I have a fixed deposit account in nationalised banks (like SBI) or should I go for the private ones??

Guys help me out on this?

On the date of application... if you show proof that you have a Fixed Deposit in your name in a reputed bank (Nationalised bank - SBI) and the duration is at least until the process is completed and you land in Canada with those funds.

These funds are required by you to survive the initial months when you search for job and settle down and in case of emergency after you settle down..

When one opens a fixed deposit account, you need to include a nominee, just in case of an event like death of the main account holder
of that fixed deposit, the money can then be given to the nominee. Is that going to be a problem, as I have a second person on the account who is
a nominee?

is it necessary to also include bank statements along with fixed deposit certificate?

I have peanuts in my bank account, however settlement funds I have are in the form of fixed deposit. Will a fixed deposit be just fine.

Also the fixed deposit will show the amount in Rupees. Do I need to get that converted into Canadian dollars? Will the bank do this and show it on the fixed deposit certificate? Whats the procedure?

If you are applying from India your visa officer in New Delhi will be able to convert your INR Fixed Deposit to CAD equivalent easily. This will be done at the time of your interview or earlier.

You need a letter from your bank that your a/c and fixed deposit is still active.. Along with this letter send a notarised copy of your fixed deposit...
