Dear Leon,

Please guide me. I am at Mississauga and want to sponsor my son in India. I am getting part time work in mississauga which will give me paste up but in paste up, No tax deduction will be shown. So can I submit my paste up to CHC at new delhi ? actually my indian agent is saying that you have to show your tax deduction in paste up but my comany will not cut tax while paying salary, but I have to show my whole year income at the end of the year while returing my tax file. So can I submit paste up to CHC or not ? Please suggest me.

Thanks
amitbalesh

By the way, it is "pay stub". Your agent is correct in that source deductions should be displayed, but it sounds to me as though your company is not withholding any. So if that is all you have then submit it.

Thanks for your immediate reply sir. Actually It is sales job and I would get commission on doing sales so It would be considered as business income. That's why I am confused. But if it is a business income , can't I show it as my income? Can a Businessman not sponsor his son if he would file tax return at the end of the year? Please suggest me sir.

Thanks

Unless you are on contract and not a full-time employee, your company must withhold income tax, CPP and EI from your pay. If they are not, it is illegal (unless I am missing something?).

If you are on contract, then yes they pay you the full sum of money, and it's up to you at tax-return time to file your taxes, report the income and pay all the income tax you owe. The downside to being on contract is you aren't making eligible CPP payments, although CPP is pretty useless anyways so you shouldn't really worry.

In any case, a pay-stub is a pay-stub, and it's unlikely a company would give you a pay-stub if they were paying you "under the table" illegally.

You still get deductions made on your paycheque as part time employee. You just won't get company benefits. The only time you are paid in full is if you are on contract. You are responsible for paying the taxes yourself. I don't like contract work as it is so easy to spend the reserved tax money.
