Ottawa processed applications from May/June at this pace last summer. Maybe we're seeing the trend repeat itself this summer.
I really hope it's the same for us! We still need to wait about two other weeks before we start seeing movement I think.

Hi. My wife's Outland application went in October last year, SA with transfer to London Visa office December 24th. Today (August 14th) the ECAS status changed to In Process and we were ecstatic. However while talking to an experienced member on the site via inbox, he mentioned that there maybe an issue since I don't have a third line once I click in process. I just came across this thread and unfortunately this is a buzz kill :(

However, as I type this I remember that the person above me in the time line spreadsheet had their status change to in Process August 7 and got DM today. That leads me to believe that my case may not be far off. Confused ans worried. Any idea what the missing 3rd line means?

From what I've read, applications receiving an IP on an app that is due for a decision, but also doesn't show the second/third line, is nothing to worry about. The apps that receive an IP very shortly after SA is what I've read to be unusual and cause for questioning(?) I sent my app in March and received IP today, but don't quote me on my previous statements.

Interesting. So I should just hang tight I guess since there is no mention of DM yet. Thanks for your reply!

Correct me if I'm wrong, those who have already got DM and seniors, but I've never see someone get the line "We started processing Jane Doe's application on Month date, year." until after ecas already says "Decision Made".

Also, if you look on ecas they give you an explanation for what "In Process" means:

IN
PROCESS

(A decision has not been made yet.)

Application Received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
We have received your application and will review it in order of receipt. We will send you an acknowledgement letter.

Documentation Verified by CIC
We are reviewing your application to make sure it is complete and that no documents are missing. We will return incomplete applications for resubmission.

An Interview May be Required
We will review the application and decide if an interview is necessary. If so, we will inform you in writing of the date, time and location of the interview

Changing your status in ecas is solely up to the officer assigned to your case. If they're lazy, they may never change it to "in process", as I have experienced. And if they are maybe new, or CIC is becoming more strict with officers, they may change it to in process soon after they receive it.

I feel like there use to be a section on ecas that also said what "Application Received" means, but I'm not seeing it now... which could mean, it goes straight into "In Process".

My App went to IP on July 30th and as of today still has not gone into DM. I am hoping each day that that day might be the day DM is seen... Hope, Hope, Hope. It is so hard for all of us with IP knowing we are so close to being done but not yet having DM in hand. Good luck to everyone.

That's great news that an August 7th IP got DM today! I think that's a positive sign.

If you look at the spreadsheets, there are plenty of people who filled out "in process" dates but don't have DM. It's possible they were checking ecas every day, or just haven't bothered to fill it out once they received it but it seems like too large a number for that to be the case.

Though my ecas shows an IP date, I didn't check ecas till after we had DM.

I thought when people did that they were giving the date that their ecas changed from "application received" to "in process".

I have an IP date as well, but that line only showed up after I got DM. As, my ecas never said "In Process". I went straight from "application received" to "decision made".

You might be right there's a June applicant who ecas changed to IP before they even received the physical copy of the SA letter. There is no way that applicant is truly "in process". I believe for those who have waited months and months and their status changed to IP I want to say it means truly in process but I could be wrong lol.

I think it depends on the VO and also on case to case basis.

Basing on my application and the notes i have received up to now, my application went into process on the 3rd of March 2015 and a third line was added on ecas. The notes i received as of 13 May 2015 states that they believe that our relationship is genuine but they had not yet started background and security check. On the eve on my medical expiry date (1st Aug 2015) , i have received an email to redo my medicals and they also stated that my background check is still pending.

I have been in process for 5 months and still nothing so IMO it depends on the current practice of the VO.

Update: On August 12 I took a screen capture on ecas of my partner's application and it said 'Application received'.

I emailed the London VO to let them know of our change of address; I got a reply saying they'd received the enquiry.

Today, August 15, I checked again and now it says application 'in process'

I thought they only updated ecas on a Tuesday?? Maybe they are going through the applications faster - fingers crossed for all!
