Definitely generic. I paid my RPRF upfront (back in Feb when I sent off the application) and sent in my police check a couple months ago I think. I'm just stressing why everyone else seemed to receive a request for the police check but I never got that. Hope that doesn't mean I'm far behind everyone else?Aquakitty said:Was that just a generic letter or did you guys not pay the RPRF upfront?
too funny that we are trying to define a legitimate IP....as far as I'm concerned both are legitimate...as long as CIC is doing something with your application, it's in process....just means the "in process" is now reflective of the posted waiting times....whether that is more "legitimate" or not I don't know...but I know what you mean...in the past, they didn't change the status until close to the ppr date...now they are changing it sooner....just supports my suggestion to CIC that they come up with more precise status updates as they are mostly vagueIneffable said:You also submitted your application in FEBRUARY. Those that are seeing IP who submitted in June, July, and August have been waiting considerably less time. Thus, I'm going to assume those who have been waiting less time and show IP aren't seeing IP like the traditional sense. You waited MONTHS between SA and IP. They are seeing only days.
I haven't heard of one person who's gone into IP that submitted their applications in May, June, or July see any movement or receive any indication they're IP like those who submitted in February, March or even April**. Those who see IP and submitted before late May I think are legitimate IPs. Those who submitted in May or later, I think it's a processing error or not an accurate gauge of when DM will be made. (And if it is, holy cow. The CIC just shafted people who've been waiting twice as long—some three times as long.)
Have you noticed how many people received IP on August 6th? I've seen dozens of people who saw IP on that date in particular with no one seeing any DM, PPR, etc. Seems like a batch of new transfers, when likely being received at the VO, where input as IP. The only people to receive IP on August 6th to get any answers have been those who submitted February-ish—not June, etc.
On my case notes, I can see that my application was moved to IP when it arrived to Ottawa, but then was changed back to received and not started. It could be that applications are marked IP when received at new VOs; officers edit the information of arrival. I suspect those who saw IP the same day their applications arrived at their VOs were supposed to change a status back and didn't.
So, in my opinion, those people who are receiving IP and have been waiting since February, March, etc. are more than likely seeing a legitimate IP whereas those who seem to be shaving off 3-4 months off the average time of when they should be seeing IP likely aren't accurate.
(**Not including those VOs who have stupidly fast turn around times.)
Or perhaps you might a DM before me ha,ChellyCat said:Definitely generic. I paid my RPRF upfront (back in Feb when I sent off the application) and sent in my police check a couple months ago I think. I just thought of ONE advantage for CIC changing statuses to "in process" sooner than later (i.e. when the application is being sent to the overseas visa office) and why I think this is more relevant and important than the status changing later in the actual process. If your processing time is past the number of months from your "in process" date, you might be more likely to get a response from someone (VO, MP) when you make an enquiry. So it's a good thing that they are changing the applicant status to "In Process" after SA...because this is more reflective on the actual TOTAL processing time (whether or not they actually start looking at it immediately after it is transferred is irrelevant).
Unless they decide to change and update their status updates to be more accurate....this is all we can go by. (i.e. they could have an "in queue" status whereby the application has been received but has not yet been reviewed).
Wouldn't it be nice if the ECAS status updates actually had more process detail? Then we would all have fewer questions and have a better sense of where our app is in the process (plus we can sooner catch issues if applications / requests for information have been lost).
This is one of the issues I wrote to our PM, Min Alexander, my MP and the leaders of the opposition about. Suggest everyone do the same.
It would then free up resources from having to respond to unnecessary enquiries / even requests for GCMS / CAIPS....

Our IP went back from July 1 to June 26.
