Hello,
I am a A Canadian citizen and my husband is a citizen of Jamaica. We met in 2018 and decided to apply for a visit is visa for him to visit me in October 2018. He was denied so we attempted again for Christmas however, he was denied again. We could not understand the reason for his denial as he is an electrician and I am a social worker both without criminal records and great paying jobs. We sent a request from the immigration consultant to find out why he was denied in order for us to fix our mistakes. The Officers notes were not specific and the was no reasoning for his denial.
We were advised a by an immigration consultant that they only way for him to come to Canada was for he and I to get married. We were married in February of 2019. Fast forward now, we have recently obtained a lawyer to assist us in applying for a spousal sponsorship application. My concern is, we have been married for 10 months, our relationship was not long however, we decided to get married in a small intimate ceremony without family. We have provided all documentation, pictures however do not share any expenses or accounts.
My question is, will our short 1.5 year relationship have an effect on our spousal sponsorship application? Or does it not matter as long as we can prove our marriage is legitimate?
