Your are suggesting that this lady takes up the PR and comes to Canada, and state that he has to provide for her for 3 years (which is the the rule), BUT you then state that he can go to jail if he assaults her - How can the system take money from him to pay for her social assistance, if he is not earning while in jail. I think you a lot of you are not looking at the whole picture and do not realise that the taxpayers will probably end up paying for this mess.

I think you aren't seeing the whole picture. You are looking at it from an outsider's standpoint as we all are but there is nothing wrong for feeling compassion for a woman that was made promises by her husband and who knows maybe they can reconcile. And if not why not give this woman a chance for a new life in a great country? You are just assuming this woman will be a drain on society when there is a chance she is educated and independent enough she could sustain herself. No one here is in the position to judge.. just help..
