Ok, so I've read the main threads about importing a vehicle from the US. Our car is a 2001 chevy so would be exempt from RIV. I'm unsure what then the steps would be for importing it. Has anyone done this, or does anyone understand it better than I do? (lol)

1/ Start here for the US export regulations: http://tinyurl.com/yx9j5upp
2/ As the car is exempt from RIV, it will still have to pass the Provincial inspection before it can be registered. See the rules for the Province where you will be residing.

If the vehicle is exempt from RIV, why does the RIV online form have a checkbox on the first page for "exempt" and the reason "over 15 years old" and then prompt you to complete the rest of the form/upload documents/pay the fee? What's the point of this if it's exempt? Do I need to get a recall clearance?
