You are right that the cap applies to the number of applicants eligible for processing. The finer details of whether or not those actual applicants complete the process and if they don't how their number will be replaced is a mystery. The grand total for FSW 1 category will be 20,000 per year and you know that there are 29 NOC professions considered. That means that all 29 NOCs will not end up with a full 1,000 applicants. Perhaps the "space" a failed application frees up will go to an incoming application in one of the last to fill NOCs as they will probably have returned applications to those in the NOCs that have already reached their 1,000 cap. In a thread some time back LEON determined the new cap of 20,000 was approximately half what the FSW1 numbers were in previous years. We are all wondering when and how CIC will let us know that the limits have been reached. Hope this helps.

thank you for the info... i just hope that my application will reach CIO in time before my occupation reaches 1000... my target is by friday when I get my police clearance.
My husband and I have the same occupation (dentists w/ 7 years experience for both) so if the 1000 is reached we will need to look for other ways to apply, will just research for other options.
By the way I would just like to ask , I have relatives living in vancouver actually they are my cousins ( 1st degree-our parents are siblings )but they are not qualified first degree relative. So for the question Do you have relatives in Canada? my answer should be NO?

Thank you in advance...

I think you should write "No" since they are distant relatives. By the way, i am also a Dentist from Bangladesh and hoping to apply ASAP.
I have just created a thread titled "Dentist-3113" only for Dentists. Feel free to share your experiences, problems there

To avoid misunderstandings, you could check "yes" and then write in cousins. Even though it won't give you points, that way you are honest and acknowledge them. The question is ambiguous because it doesn't clarify that they are only asking about the list of relatives that are qualified and in these cases I take the burden of ensuring there's no confusion to minimize future questions and delays.

By the way, I have a question:

When creating an explanation letter, is it placed on top of the document that you want to explain, or is it placed after the document?

Like for example:
Explanation Letter
Document being explained

or

Document being explained
Explanation Letter

I prefer to put explanations before the document to give the reader the context before they see the document so I would choose:

Document being explained

Hello, everyone!

For those who are yet to submit their complete application and documents to the CIO, please make sure you read the latest IMM EG7000: Federal Skilled Worker Class Application for Permanent Residence Guide (07-2010). I have downloaded the guide less than two weeks ago but found out only yesterday thru a different discussion thread about the newly posted instruction guide. Make sure you are working on the 07-2010 version and not the 06-2010 version which was released together with the new 29 priority occupations last June 26. The version number can be found on the leftmost bottom part of the first page of the guide.

Significant changes I have noticed are the following:

1. Page 29 stating a new provision in the revised IMM 0008-Schedule 3 Form. Again, please make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the new form with 07-2010 indicated on the leftmost bottom of the first page. This revised form includes “12. Order of Preference” requiring you to indicate which occupational experience you would like to be assessed in order of preference from the occupations you have listed in question 11. (I believe this is pretty helpful for those applicants who qualify for more than one critical skill in the Ministerial Instruction.)

2. Page 35 stating that the order of preference as filled out in the Schedule 3 Form should also be indicated on the envelope before sending to the CIO.

3. Page 39 stating the following instruction: “Do not submit your police certificates to the CIO. If your application is placed into processing, you will be required to submit the police certificates to the Canadian visa office indicated on your application.” You may read further the next page for the required validity of the police certificates. (Hurray for applicants who need an ample amount of time to secure their police certificates!)

Hope the following information helps! ☺

This is great biyaya! actually, i was reading thru the new instructions, and missed the PCC not be sent anymore to CIO!

I just want to add something:

4. on page 26, #12, i think this is new. it says something like if you were not a member of any organization, write "I have never been a member of any organization or association". I believe before, it says to place N/A or None.

Thanks for this, Biyaya! I stopped by to mention this and the fact that there is an updated OP-6 (see my next post on this) and saw you had already brought up ☺ The new guide is indeed much clearer and it has some important changes (in addition to the ones you mention I've noticed that PCC validity for example has changed to 1 year now, they clearly state one should only make one copy of the application now for your own records vs. the 2 copies they asked for before so you had one to send to the visa office, the requirements for the photos have been cleared up and they make it very clear they must be sent to the CIO).

It's great to see that folks applying now have a much clearer guideline that has been tailored to the new rules (instead of having to interpret the changes)! ☺

BTW, the online instructions off of http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp have also changed to reflect the newest changes in policy (e.g., PCC no longer needs to be submitted to CIO).

Everyone - please note that there is a new OP-6 that was issued today @ http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf that separates out the instructions based on date that applications were issued.
I went thru the document you mentioned OhCanadiana.

On section 7.1, 2nd to the last bullet, it mentioned something like:

- a signed statement to the effect that the information provided is complete and accurate;

do i need to provide this? creating a letter will do? I don't see this on the federal skill worker package.. please advice..

I have a question, If you go to form EG7, page 40 for police certificate information, there are 2 things written

1) Police certificates are valid for 12 months from the date they are issued. If your application is placed into processing, these certificates must be submitted before your application can be finalized.
2) When you submit the police certificates to the visa office, ensure they have been issued in the last three months and no earlier. Certificates that are more than three months old on receipt will not be accepted.

What do they mean by saying Police certificates are valid for 12 months and then by saying Police certificates have been issued in the last 3 months and no earlier and older than 3 months certificates will not be accepted.

What about me, I already get my PCC just recently?
