If I get everything in for my PR application and have security clearances pending that will be sent to CIC, will I have implied status?

My temporary resident visa expires Nov 30 and they say to apply 30 days in advance to extend. So I want to be sure! haha.

Also, can my reason for extending the temporary resident visa be to complete the inland PR application? Oh yeah and to be with my wife and newborn baby? :)

Cheers

If you sent in an Inland application, then yes, you have implied status. You can remain in Canada until the application is denied or completed and you land.

even if the security clearances have been sent for but weren't sent with the application? They will be sent direct from the source, Uganda, Bhutan and USA.

Unless your application is returned because you don't have the clearances, then no. Pretty much, as long as you can prove you're in process, it's fine.

However, sending the clearances separate from the application isn't recommended. It can slow down your processing time. Sometimes CIC can't put the two envelopes together and will either ask for a new clearance or return your application.

Hmmm well considering these clearances are going to take awhile (Bhutan rarely has foreigners ask for one since very few people visit, let alone live there for more than 6 months), maybe I will make photocopies of all documents that show me applying for security clearances and attach them with the application.

Make sure you keep copies of the clearances too, just in case.

I see the merit in your idea and I hope it works out.

are you sure they can be sent directly from source? I would double check into that, but alot of people have said their applications were returned because it was considered incomplete without them. do you have a UCI number for them to be matched up with, otherwise how would they know where they go? to CIC as any government you are a number not a name LOL did you already submit the application? because if you already submitted the application you would already have implied status. if you havn't... I think your best bet is to file for a visitors extension while you are waiting for the background checks. yes you can include the paperwork showing you are waiting for the checks to submit your application. are you american? if you are american have you considered filing out-land I filed and got my visa in 6 months and remained in Canada the whole time...

not yet sent in the app. I actually think they'll send the clearances to me and then I need to submit those as they come in. my wife spoke to CIC on the phone and they advised sending in the app, then the clearances as one of them, Bhutan, is unpredictable and I assume will take quite some time.

we originally were going to do outland, but then you can't file for open work permit after stage 1 approval.

can understand that, but if you get the PR visa, you won't need a work permit. your going to wait 5 to 6 months (as long as they don't need additional information) for 1st stage approval before getting the AIP and work permit, it took me 6 1/2 months to get the visa and the process is over, I land and can start working that day... either way GOOD LUCK!
