Implied status?????????????

We have our application for the CEC almost ready to send off - we are just waiting on my husband's results from the English test. Our current work permits expire Feb 2013. If we still have no got a response by that stage from our application, do we have implied status or do we have to leave the country? Is this the case for the Federal application too?

You will only get implied status, if your underlying work permit has been sent for renewal.
PR application cannot give you the implied status.

Try to apply for a Visitor visa, it lasts 6 month to 1 year.

Is there some reason you wouldn't want to apply for a new work permit?

no - we just weren't sure if we could ask my husband's company to apply for LMO...we both currently have open work permits but would be tied to his company again with an LMO. Just wondering if there was any other way.

In your case, the LMO is the only way to obtain a work permit at this point - his work permit will be tied to his employer and you(as his spouse) will be eligible for an open work permit provided his job is skilled(i.e. skill type O, skill level A or B). Otherwise, you also have to get a LMO and apply for your own work permit. If all else fails, you can try for a visitor visa but you won't be able to work.
If you submit a thorough application and all goes well, you may be able to obtain permanent residence status by Feb 2013. There are forum members who were done in about 6 months.

Thanks for your help SenoritaBella - can't believe some people had theirs through in 6 months. I have another question for you - we have a 7 month old Canadian Citizen - we have to list him as a family member / dependent. Do we have to pay the $450 for him as well when we are sending off the payment?
