Hi all,

I have a very complicated situation in regards to my status.

Quick overview, I've applied for my PR and it's under review right now.

My PGWP expired in July 2017, and I've applied for an extension on a paper because they've made a mistake there because I've studied 2 full years at the university, and received my PGWP for only 1 year, however, I was supposed to be granted 3-year PGWP.

So, I've applied for extension/ restoration of status and continued working with the same employer under implied status.

Also, I wanted to apply for bridging work permit while waiting for CIC decision on my PR application, but unfortunately it doesn't allow me to do so. This will allow me continuing working while I'm waiting on their decision.

Does anyone have any insight if this wrong? I've tried to search any information, but my case seems to be very complicated, and there is no information regarding this.

Did you try to contact CIC when you received your work permit? When did your passport expire? Because CIC will not issue a permit that is valid longer than your passport expiration date.

And since you applied on paper, you'll have to wait for a decision back before you can apply for a work permit. Also you don't qualify for bridging open work permit because you need to have valid work status at the time you submit a Bridging Open Work Permit.

When did you apply for the work permit extension? Before or after your PGWP expired? You only have implied status if the extension application was received by CIC before your PGWP expired.

You don't qualify to apply for a BOWP at this time. You must be holding a valid work permit to apply for a BOWP

My PGWP expired in July, and I've submitted all documents I believe week before the expiration date. And it's been more than 90 days, and I still haven't heard from them.

Also, can I still continue working under this implied status? or should I stop?

You have implied status. You can keep working until CIC makes a decision in your application.
