What about the expiring SIN and health card. Is there any way of extending while on implied status because it bears the same date as the work permit.

You can't extent SIN card, but it will valid through your implied status period (Refer: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/employers/expiry.shtml).

But unfortunately your health card cannot use within this period. Either you have to purchase Visitor to Canada health insurance, or you have to take a risk and live without an insurance.

Thanks for the reply. Does the AINP file number will do. Where can I get the PNP supporting letter? Do I need to contact the office?

Thanks

Hi biz.. Did you applied for the extension?

So this is the story.

Basically if your work permit is going to expire and if you do not have any supporting document in hand to get a work permit, your workpermit application will be rejected by CIC. After recieve your rejection letter/email you need to stop working and need to restore your status. But during the process you are in implied status. That's mean you can work and have some money save for your next application and meantime you can try to find LIMA or another employer who can provide a LIMA (or get PNP certificate and supportive letter).

If you receive one of these supportive letter before they process your application, you can submit it to CIC, and they will approve your application.

If you apply online, it is fast and decision will be made so fast.

If you use paper application, it will take time to process and you have time to do your other work as I mentioned earlier. So basically we use paper application to late the process, and get more time to prepare for next step.
just wondering if anybody has submitted a paper version of the work permit extension & knows roughly how long it takes for them to reject it? (should you not have your PNP support letter)

Hi Bholl,

My work permit was expires 2013 Oct 24th and I've applied for extension before 3 days from expiration. It took me 2 months and 3-4 days to send back my rejection letter. It will depend on the current processing time. Visit here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

Currently it says 72 days, so it will take 2.5 months (or longer) to process.

Hi guys. I have the same question too.

Is one eligible for a bridging work permit if one has just the AINP file number? I'm pretty sure we're not but want to confirm again.

Thanks!

No, PNP need to complete their process to issue you with a supporting letter. We also tried to get a supporting letter while they process, but Ontario PNP won't give you. But it worth to try. I'm Ontario PNP applicant and had implied status for more than 2 months. But I do not have idea about other provinces, and they will have some different approach. So call them and say your story and ask for help. They will their best.

Regards,
Shyam

I'm planning to send my WP extension last week of January next year. As others asking if they apply for an extension here in Alberta just by using AINP file my answer is yes they can but incomplete package sent to CIC is just waiting for the refusal letter usually takes 3 months depending on their current processing times
