You are asking the questions which our seniors can give the answer easily...... I am not an expert on this forum but I know the basic knowledge to apply for Immigration which is not the case in your consultant world.

I have seen so many stupid consultant who dont know what is first AOR and CAIPS.

Just wait and watch and you will receive flow of answers and that FREE OF COST......iOL

Try this stunt at other places and not on this forum.

Just saw this thread - Thanks OP for advising us - it really shows your magnanimity... trying to caution us well ahead in time!!! Appreciated Sir.

However, all of us, I think, would yet decide/continue to post here from the RCMP/OPP/CSIS 'detention cells' after being prosecuted by CIC. At least I would - just for kicks!!!

Brett, i appreciate the fact that you shared information about the new law being enforced, your job was done there. I don't know why personal attacks though. Adding stars to their profile won't still give them food so if anyone is trying to work for humanity than what's so bad about it? I personally know so many consultants who still charged people for old NOCs even after the new list of NOCs was published by CIC because they weren't up to date themselves......

By using all your jargons won't still make you professional, these are your professional jargons, if i use some computer programming pseudocode, you won't be able to decode it for me, would you. Just on that base i just still can't tell you to go to school and take some basic schooling or can I?

The world that we are living in isn't the best place to live in anyway but if there are some people who are trying to make it better by putting their efforts in, we shouldn't mind that. I know it can affect one's business but that is how it's in every profession. If i'm in programming profession and people are getting programs from a free forum that means my programs aren't good enough so i should come up with better programming ideas rather than stopping genuis's to do their work.

If we haven't got guts to put our good work in than we should rather sit back and not interfere in other's either.

What a disgrace you are to your profession of a qualified lawyer, or an immigrant consultation, both which I rightfully, doubt! What do you mean by 'for consideration' in the so called law you shamelessly quoted, you filth of a consultant?

You think you are doing some social service by cautioning prospective migrants on this forum? No, No, What you are doing is like a begging leper showing his bloody wounds to seek alms (clients)! Better start a "Donate for a ghastly consultant- out of business' and we will respond by donating, God willing, our (loose coins) for you to buy your caviar.

As per your (sic) advice to seniors, then don't dare to cast any aspersions on them, or else you will be cursed and doomed to find shelter for yourself, elsewhere! Better don't degrade yourself!

In June, the Conservative government launched the latest attempt at regulation, with the introduction of Bill C-35 into the House of Commons, also known as the Cracking Down on Crooked Consultants Act. If enacted, the act will provide that no person shall knowingly represent or advise a person for consideration — or offer to do so — in connection with [an immigration proceeding] unless the person is a member in good standing of a law society (i.e., a lawyer), or a member of a body designated by the government.

There are a few points to pull out of that sentence. The prohibition does not require that the person actually provide any advice. Even offering to do so is not allowed. (We'll call that the crime of “attempted consulting.”)

So all those guys adding stars to your profile here by freely offering advice.....Watch Out !!! The stick is coming soon. Its not easy to try and put genuine practitioners out of business by providing alternatives. They have worked hard and aquired the knowledge and experience to practice. You cannot tell people not to hire consultants !!!!!

this law applies to those who have opened consultancy firms but not registered with canadian authorities. they are also charging fees and sometimes ripping off customers.

this definitely not apply to us or those who are offering free services and don't have consultancy firms.

Legislation to crack down on crooked consultants a step closer to becoming law
Ottawa, December 7, 2010 — Legislation to crack down on crooked immigration consultants received final approval today in the House of Commons.

“I am pleased that C-35, our tough measures to crack down on crooked consultants, is now moving to the Senate for its consideration,” said Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney.

The legislation, introduced in the House of Commons on June 8, aims to crack down on crooked immigration consultants who exploit prospective immigrants and undermine the integrity of Canada's immigration system.

“In their quest for personal gain, crooked consultants have displayed a wanton disregard for our immigration rules and bilked too many people out of their hard-earned dollars,” said Minister Kenney. “They are a menace, posing a costly threat not only to their victims, but also to the integrity and fairness of our immigration system. When crooked consultants encourage prospective immigrants to cheat the system, it slows down the immigration system for those following the rules.”

The legislation would make it a crime for unauthorized individuals to provide immigration advice or representation for a fee. This includes services offered or performed before an application is submitted or a proceeding begins, thus closing a loophole in the current framework. It would also give the Minister the authority to designate a body to govern immigration consultants and authorize the Governor in Council to make regulations to enhance the government's oversight of this body.

A public call for submissions from candidate entities interested in becoming the governing body was published in the Canada Gazette in August. Interested parties have until 4 p.m. (EST) on December 29, 2010, to deliver their submissions.

In addition, the legislation would authorize the disclosure of information on the ethical or professional conduct of an immigration consultant to those responsible for governing or investigating that conduct
