Thank you so much. The list of acronyms really helps.

Hey all,

I've taken Mike's original list (THANK you THANK you THANK you) and created a Google spreadsheet that can be edited by anyone with the following link (meaning you won't need to log into Google)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qp2u3X_F10-peLhSZnPwBNAZivuICTZIA2eyB-tOerE/edit#gid=0

Please feel free to add any additional acronyms that you come across...but if you're not sure how to do it, go ahead and reply to this forum with your additions.

This forum is extremely helpful....thank you everyone for making it so.

Details about Canada's immigration programs are in the link below. You can also read through the discussions in the International Students section of the forum where people have discussed immigration options.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

You won't be albe to bring your parents to Canada to live with you either while you are on the study permit or immediately after you get PR (they cannot immigrate with you / as part of your application). The process of sponsoring your parents is long and has a number of requirements (e.g. you must have work in Canada for at least three years and made enough income to meet the low income cut off levels). From the time you become a PR, you should assume it will be at least 8 years (if not more) before your parents will be able to permanently immigrate to Canada.

At the top right, there is a tab with Notify / New Topic. (Right above the column that says "Last post".
