IMM5710 "Coming into Canada" Section Problem

Hello,

I am trying to fill out the post graduate work permit form known as IMM5710 and I am quite confused about the section in which it says "COMING INTO CANADA". The section has a sub section that says "Date and Place of your most recent entry to canada (if not the same as original entry)". I left canada for the states for about a month and a half. When I came back, at the airport my passport was not stamped upon returning. I was only asked for my current study permit which I lost and then I was issued a replacement at the airport immediately (on this replacement there is still no date of entry on it). So my question is "Do l leave that section blank and is that OK?". I ask this because traveling to the USA from Canada is quite different in that upon returning you do not need a re-entry visa, so probably why my passport was never stamped upon return. Please advise.

Thank you in advance. ;)

Was your entry in to US stamped in to your passport? If so, there is a record of when you left. To be on the safe side, contact cic.

First of all, thanks for the reply. Yes there are 2 pages in my passport that have stamped records of my entry into the states. But like you said "contact cic", which is what I will do right now!!.

Thank you for the reply.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The stamp in your passport is a record of you leaving Canada so every entry back in to Canada is technically a re-entry, even if they never stamped it. Leaving that section blank in your application would mean that to a degree you're not being honest, because you have left and come back.

Funny that you asked this because I just looked at my study permit and at the bottom of it it says "not valid for re-entry". I have heard of international students having all sorts of issues coming back in after travels during holidays, which is why I have no intention what so ever to leave the country for the duration of my studies. Even though I am from a TRV exempt country.

Well, I just called CIC and I was told that for some re-entries they do not stamp the passport, which is strange, so I was unable to even get a record of my re-entry. I know the actual date that I returned because I still have my boarding pass and flight information. The thing is, I was told it had to be on my passport too and its not on my passport. I am kind of clueless now. I was thinking of using the date from my flight information but it is not stamped on my passport.

:'(

Thanks for your help and the prompt replies

If I were you I'd include a cover-letter explaining the situation. I mean, it isn't uncommon that you don't get a re-entry visa when going on day trips, according to visitors reports in the past. Include copy of airline ticket, boarding pass (really good that you saved that) in your application.

Yes, that's exactly what I will do. QUICK QUESTION: Can I actually add a cover letter when I am submitting it electronically?. Because the system says how many supporting documents I need when doing it electronically, so I am just wondering if it is possible to actually add a supporting cover letter or other documents to my application. I just asked someone at my school and they said to include the date I returned as seen on my boarding pass and flight schedule (which are the same, obviously), but just like you said a cover letter is what I will add, hopefully I get the chance to add one while submitting electronically.

Thanks once again for the prompt replies. :)

I've never gone through the PGWP process but I know I included a coverletter in the electronic application for the study permit. If there is a section for uploading pdf documents, do it there but put the letter and the tickets in the same pdf.

Hopefully, there is a section for uploading documents, but I understand what you mean. I will do just that. I really appreciate your help.

Thank You

Assuming, there is no section though to upload a document, then what do I do? Although it makes sense for me to add the date on my flight schedule and boarding pass, cause the day I arrived was the same day and moment they replaced my lost study permit, so there should be a record that atleast shows that I returned that day and that my study permit was replaced that day, right?

Once again, thank you, I appreciate all your help. :)

It might be worth to do it the old fashion way instead of electronic. As in snail mail.

I can only imagine myself actually doing that. I will look and see if there is actually a spot to upload supporting documents. I do have a time constraint, that's why I chose electronic. If the worst comes to the worst, I might as well consider the regular post mail (express of course).

Thank You,

:)

Make sure you track it so it has to be signed for. Then you have a receipt that it was sent in.
