Hi guys. Currently trying to fill out the forms as we are getting married next month.
I am not sure what I should answer at are you currently living in Canada.?
I was with my girl in her country for a year from june 2013 til june 2014, then i went back to Canada for 2 months and now im back in her country again

Also when it says are you currently employed ? I am a freelancer/independant for a canadian company so that would count as employed right?

Thanks for your help!

you can choose between 2 ways of doing things. in addresses, if your permanent address has always remained in canada during your travels, then you put that address as your address, along with the other information that is specifically requested. OR you can split the dates by when you were traveling and us the foreign address where you were as an address during those times. visiting another country is not illegal, so putting that as an address for 2 months isn't going to raise suspicion. You just say your status was "visitor". just make sure there are no gaps in the list, or CIC will ask you to redo it.

in your "activity" list, you list the dates you were traveling to her country and write "traveling" as your activity. If you were working remotely, you were still working, and can put "freelance worker" as well.

Working doesn't mean you are working for a specific employer. if you are freelance and receive pay in exchange for work provided, then you were working and employed. so in your activities you would write "freelance work", provide the dates, your role, your legal status in your country (Citizen or pr), and the names of the company/people you did the work for.

Thanks for your answer

BTW I am sponsoring my girlfriend, I am Canadian

I have a temporal visa for Colombia that gives me the right to be here for 3 years and to work.

My Permanent address has always been in Canada.

Since I have been a year outside Canada, then 2 months in Canada and now again in Colombia, i'm not sure if I am still living in Canada thats why

if you were NOT living in cnada for a year, then no you were not living in cnada during that time. i would say your permanent address is in colombia, because you have been there for more than a normal length of time for a "visitor". if you say you are living in canada when you clearly weren't, that will cause trouble for your application.

and are you? if you are in colombia, and plan to be there for more than just a regular visit, pay bills and work there, then you are living in colombia. if you maintain a permanent ADDRESS in canada, pay rent and bills there, and work there then you are living in canada. it's pretty simple.

Thanks for your help I know it looks simple from that view but in my case I'm not quite sure.

I pay taxes in Canada, Drivers License, bank accounts, everything is in Canada, my address is my parents home in Canada.

I work for a Canadian Company online so I can work anywhere in the world, and I am not sure if I am going back after sending her documents or not.

if you don't plan to return to canada, then why are you applying for your gf's pr? if that is what you meant, then i'm afraid you will have a difficult time getting the application approved. CIC requires proof of your intntion to return to and settle in canada once the applicant is approved, and in order for the applicant to be a PR, they must go to canada to finalize the process and "land" at the border.

Are your a PR or canadian citizen? depending on your own status, you may need to be in canada during processing. There are also residency requirements for maintaining PR status.

oh, i see. if you're not currently residing in canada, then you are not currently living in canada. so you will have to say so, and prove your intent to return.

Yup. It's really quite simple, as stated already. Put down "where" you are living when you apply. That's it!
