IMM5406 Issue question

Hello there

A quick very important question:
I intend to apply to sponsor my wife soon. She is outland, we have no children.

Who needs to write an "Additional family information slip - IMM5406? Just her? or others?

The frustrating thing is :

In the checklist it says: the principal applicant and any members of his family 18 years or older.

In the guide it says: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp#5406

This form must be filled out and signed by:

The principal applicant,
All dependent children aged 18 or over (whether coming with you to Canada or not).
Note: if your dependent child is the principal applicant on a sponsorship application, you should complete this form on their behalf regardless of their age.


And one thread here states that siblings are asked for this too.

Could somebody please help with this?

hi,
the only person(s) that need to fill out IMM5406 is the person applying for PR. For application purposes "spouse" and "family members" ONLY refers to those seeking PR approval. Since the sponsor-spouse, parents and siblings are not applicants in spousal sponsorships seeking PR status, they do not fill out these forms.

Appendix A: Key Definitions explains the definition of family member for application purposes.

right, and as mentioned by another poster, the OP is misunderstanding the reason for needing the new form. siblings and parents are NOT required to submit their own forms, since they are not applying for PR. Siblings and parents must be LISTED on the PR applicant's form, that is it. perhaps the original form was not filled out correctly. it is highly likely that poster is not interpreting the request correctly.
