IMM1344 --- date of signatures

Hello guys,

Is it ok if my wife does this form for me and sends it to me? This saves money on having to fill out the form from here (Canada), send the docs to her country and then back here to Canada.

Just wondering if the signature are date sensitive (Sponsor signs first before the Sponsored). Technically she would know every answer (or most of it) since we've been together for a long time.

Thanks.

This form requires the "sponsors" signature, and the sponsors "spouse" signature ONLY if he/she is a "co-signer". If you are sponsoring your spouse... she is not a co-signer and does NOT sign this form. Bear in mind this form is also used for sponsorships other than spousal, which is where that circumstance may apply.

Somewhere in the guide it says that the application cannot be more than xxxx months old. Can't remember the details but there is a time limit.

My husband and I completed all the forms in July 2012. He signed everything but did not put a date anywhere.

I came back to Montreal, compiled the application and proof. Once I was ready to send the application, I wrote in the date next to his signature. It was all dated October 16th 2012.

What we did, I (sponsored person from Philippines) fill-up the form online while I'm having skype with my husband then I validate and save a copy and send it first tru email so that my husband can check for errors. When I had all my forms (including this Imm1344) and documents ready for mailing to my husband I date and signed all the forms so that it will be up-dated.

So far, we have our sponsor approval.

Truesmile: This form should be signed by the sponsored person or principal applicant. I think you just forgot about your wife signing it. :p :p

What...?! But:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM1344E.pdf

page 6 clearly has a field for a co-signer spouse to sign (if applicable) and another separate field for the sponsored person. So no matter what, the sponsored person has to sign and date the form too...
