I completed Doctor of Pharmacy in INDIA which is a 6 years course. After the completion of this course, university issues DOCTORATE degree but this course is equivalent to Ph D.But in the form, IMM008 under the section "EDUCATION/OCCUPATION DETAIL" there is a question "Highest Level of Education" and below the available option to choose:
  • None: No education
  • Secondary or less: High school diploma obtained after elementary school and before college, university, or other formal training.
  • Trade / Apprenticeship certificate / Diploma: Diploma completed in a specific trade, such as carpentry or auto mechanics.
  • Non-university certificate / Diploma: Training in a profession that requires formal education but not at the university level (for example, dental technician or engineering technician).
  • Post-secondary – No degree: Post-secondary studies at a college or university but no degree earned.
  • Bachelor’s degree: Academic degree awarded by a college or university to those who completed an undergraduate curriculum; also, called a baccalaureate. Examples include a Bachelor of Arts, Science or Education.
  • Post Graduate – No degree: Post Graduate studies at a college or university but no degree earned (Master of PhD).
  • Master’s degree: Academic degree awarded by a graduate school of a college or university. You must have completed a Bachelor’s degree before a Master’s degree can be earned.
  • Doctorate – Ph D: Highest university degree usually based on at least three (3) years of graduate studies and a thesis. Normally, you must have completed a Master’s degree before a PhD can be earned.

Based on my degree I cannot choose any of the above options.

The only option which is similar to the degree I obtained is "Doctorate – Ph D" but in the explanation on CIC website says "Highest university degree usually based on at least three (3) years of graduate studies and a thesis. Normally, you must have completed a Master’s degree before a PhD can be earned."

I am not sure, what option to choose in form for "Highest Level of Education".

Any Help is really appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance.

Yes it says atleast 3 years of degree, so it could be anthing from 3 to 6 years! So that option would be fine

I am confused as well. Did you get a Doctor's degree in just 6 years with no other post-secondary education prior?

The program(Doctor of Pharmacy) what I choose gives a Doctorate upon completion of 6 years course.

But, upon little bit of debate with all my friends, I finally choose to select "Masters Degree" from the Drop Down for Highest level of education considering this as 4 years +2 years which is similar to masters.

Confusing but, yeah that is how it is. :(

That’s fine! Dont worry too much about it!! You can submit copies of your doctorate degree along with! They would understand it!!

I agree with your friend. Since you haven't done any thesis, I think Masters degree is the closest you have with your 6 years of classes.

Got this from Wiki:
India[edit]
Not to be confused with DPharm.
Pharm.D course introduced by the Government of India and Pharmacy Council of India in 2008. The Pharm.D program is a pre-PhD, post-graduate professional doctorate of 6 years. It was introduced to improve clinical pharmacy services in India and it is the only pharmacy service which is in direct contact with patient health care system. The first batch of Pharm.D post baccalaureate students graduated in August 2011 and 1st regular batch graduated in June 2014. The Pharm.D degree requires five years of classroom and hospital based didactic study (two years didactic post-baccalaureate course), followed by one year of internship training in hospitals in addition to ongoing practicals and research project.[5] With reference to Clarification on Pharm.D qualification,[6] it is clarified to all universities that Pharm.D is a post graduate degree and passing students can directly register for Ph.D From 2012.
Sounds like a Masters degree eqv.

Thanks for double confirming!! Really appreciate that!!
You can always add a separate page behind the forms that says RE: Form IMM008 section EDUCATION/OCCUPATION DETAIL.........and then briefly explain the situation further. And then yes, i'd include a copy of your degree/certificate.
