Hi, I'm wondering if anybody can answer this question...I read Basic guide numerous times as well as tried to find information on the forums but still got no answer. My situation is this. My husband (Canadian citizen) has a son who is also Canadian citizen born in Canada. I (principal applicant) got no children on my own. So should my stepson be listed on the IMM0008 form as my dependant? I got no custody of him or no legal rights, we never even got to meet in real life yet. I'm aware that I should mention him in the additional family information form as it clearly states there to list all the children including stepchildren regardless of where they live but what about the IMM0008 form....Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks

Hi

Stated right in the guide:

Note: Remember that all questions in this section are about your dependant. You must include your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, and all of your dependent children, and those of your spouse or common-law partner, who are not already permanent residents or Canadian citizens.

Thank you...this line was the one that confused me when I read the guide because I thought that the line "who are not already permanent residents or Canadian sitizen" was regarding only spouses or common-law partners, not dependent children and I still had to include all of them. But that's good to hear that it's regarding dependant children too and thank you very much for your input. So basically it means that we wouldn't have to include my step son's birth certificate either( like it's listed on the check list about providing the birth certificates for all the family members)? Ohh I hope not because it would be pretty hard to get it considering that his mother would most likely reject doing it....
