IMM 5406- HELP NEEDED URGENTLY! Thanks

Hi All

I m on the verge of sending the PR spouse application for my wife who is in India. My wife had a question in Form IMM 5406(Additional family information)

Section A:

Spouse--> Here does she write my name? This is the first marriage for both of us. I m a Canadian PR and I m sponsoring my wife. Does she still need to write my name here? The form title says "Additional family Information"? Pls clarify my doubt.

Under Note 1: She had written "Not applicable" at the signature column--> Is it correct? (Because she is married and I m her spouse)

Section B: We dont have childern.. So it is "Not applicable"

Section C: She has a brother and included his name there.


Does she need to include photos of the other family members who are not coming to Canada? e.g. in Section A the form asked for Father and Mother's details and in Section C she had to mention her Brothers name. Are photos required? They are not being sponsored nor accompanying her or anything.

It is so confusing and I would be very happy if I get a quick response so that I can send the application by tomorrow.

Yes, she includes your name under spouse.

She can leave blank or write "not applicable" or "n/a"

The instructions state that if no children are listed, then sign and date. So do not write "not applicable" here.

Section C: She has a brother and included his name there.

Yes, right. Then sign and date is Section D.

No, no photos required.

She should write your name, even though you are already a PR.

Under Note 1: She had written "Not applicable" at the signature column--> Is it correct? (Because she is married and I m her spouse)

She should not sign it. She does have a spouse - you - and she should list your name in Section A.

Section B: We dont have childern.. So it is "Not applicable"

She should sign Section B at Note 2, certifying that she doesn't have any children.

Section C: She has a brother and included his name there.

No, she does not need to include photos of her brother and parents. This is just additional info about her family.

Just a small question regarding the receipt I have received from CIC after my payment of 1040$. They have asked for Payer information(which is my info- I paid using my credit card online). They asked for CLIENT ID Number.. what should I write there? My 8 digit PR Number?

No, you won't have a client ID # yet. They will assign you one when they assess your sponsorship ap. You can leave that blank - just be sure to fill out your other identifying info like full name, birthdate and address.

Thanks Robsluv... I was wondering if I had to mention my PR ID No. Because Client ID NO (Same as PR No) is what is mentioned in my landing document..

If your PR number is the same as your client ID number was while your PR ap was processing then, yes, include that as your Client ID# in the payer information. Since I don't have PR yet, I didn't realize your client ID# becomes your PR#. Actually, wasn't even aware there was a PR#!!

The file number which was issued to me at the time of processing my PR is different from my PR Number. However, I have received the landing document where in the Client ID number was mentioned. This ID is same as the Number which is on the PR card.

So should I mention this client ID/PR ID number on the receipt?

Regarding my bills to show that me and my wife were living together in India (we were living together since the day we got married i.e. 26 July 2009. I came to Canada for my Job on 1 July 2010), can I include copy of my bills? (e.g. utilities, groceries etc)? or do I need to include the original bills/receipts?

Copies of the bills will be fine.
Plus copies are easier to organize - you can copy several onto one sheet of A4 paper.
