Hi,

I am filling out IMM 5406, the guide says for yourself (principal applicant) and your spouse, "If you are married and you were physically present at the marriage, indicate “married – physically present” in the marital status box".

However, for parents it doesn't say anything. So, do I just enter "Married", or "married - physically present", for my parents, since my parents were present at our marriage.

I am confused what to enter under martial status for my parents, not sure if it would just be "married" or "married - physically present".

Here is the link for CIC guide 3999, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp.

Please advise. Thank you.

Just married for your parents is fine.

they want the sponsor and the applicant to put whether they were present or not. You cant enter this information in on a computer as there isnt enough space, so just handwrite it in.

'Married' for your parents is fine. 'Married - physically present' does not mean your parents were at your wedding ceremony. CIC just wants to know whether you and your wife were both physically present at your own wedding. This is because they do not accept marriage over the phone, or proxy marriages, though they used to.

Thank you Canadianwoman. I always appreciate your replies, and advice. Thank you once again! :)
