Hi,

Quick question: I am applying under Canadian experience class and was wondering what I should enter under point 4. Immigration Office requested for the processing of your application

I'm living in Canada for over 2 Years now. Should I enter here "Sydney, Nova Scotia" ?

Thx,
Nils

Yikes, NO! Sydney only does the intake, they do not PROCESS the application. Instructions explicitly state "Do not select the CIO as the immigration office..."

You have the choice of selecting Buffalo or or the visa office that serves your country of citizenship.

This information IS in the INSTRUCTIONS. Life will be much easier if you read them!

Thanks, yes_ON
I was just confused since I was planning on filing my application from inside of Canada.

On the CIC website is says that it would be much longer when processed in my home country

Repeat: Those living in Canada (authorized for at least 1 year) have the choice of selecting Buffalo or the VO serving your country of citizenship. So select Buffalo if you don't want it processed in your home country.

Hi Nils,
Sorry for all the confusion.

The correct answer would be CPP-Ottawa, the address will be on the CEC website.

Hope this helps

not 100 % sure about this cause it doesn't state which p.r class (CEC, PNP ,FD), both CPP Ottawa and vegreville are doing p.r applications

BEST WOULD BE TO CALL 8882422100

CPC-Vegreville processes:

extensions of temporary resident status and temporary resident permits;
work and study permits;
applications for permanent residence by some classes in Canada; and
loans for the right of permanent residence fee.

CPP-OTTAWA processes:

temporary resident visa applications from within Canada for applicants with valid status (student or temporary foreign workers only); and
permanent resident visa applications from the United States and Canada after they have been pre-screened by CPC-Mississauga or Centralized Intake Office (CIO)-Sydney.

OK, people, if you want to dredge up OLD POSTS from previous years, please understand that THINGS CHANGE. Since my February 2012 post, CIC underwent a reorganization and the Buffalo office was closed.

As in most questions on this forum, CIC really does provide the answer, all you have to do is be willing to read and follow the instructions.

So, let's see, what does the instruction guide say in June 2013?
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp

Question 4

Immigration Office requested for the processing of your application

Indicate the name of the Immigration Office which serves:

your country of nationality, or
the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year.

Note: Do not select the CIO as the immigration office requested to process your application. Although you may be required to will submit your application to the CIO, you must indicate the name of an appropriate visa office using the criteria above.

The hyperlink that functions in the instruction guide takes you here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/index.asp

And you can follow the instructions from there... In case you didn't know, CEC applications are Economic Class applications... If you find the "Where to send" tool clunky and confusing (I wouldn't blame you), you can also look here -

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp

The INTAKE office is not a VISA PROCESSING office.

Short answer - most CEC applicants who are currently living in Canada will select CPP-O for their visa office. The only alternative is to select the visa office serving your country of citizenship.

Vegreville does Family Class applications, not CEC.
