The statement below has me quite confused as to wether or not I am eligable to re-enter Canada.
"The work permit will also include the words: "This does not authorize re-entry." This means that the permit allows you to work in Canada but does not act as a visa or passport to allow you to re-enter Canada. If you hold a Australian national passport, this provision does not affect you because you are visa-exempt. As long as you keep the Work permit stapled in your passport, you will be able to leave and re-enter Canada to resume work as long as your Work permit remains valid"

So does this mean, even though I have left Canada to return home to Australia that I am able to re-enter Canada if I hold a Australian passport? without having to re-apply for a new one?

I am also returning to work for the very same employer I was working for last year. And the work permit is a case type 20.

someone please help clear this up for I am in a state of panic. I'm almost due to go over to work for my employer but have no idea if I'll be able too.
Please and Thank you.

Hi, Amiee,

No need to panick whatsoever, my lawyer told me that they put "does not authorize re-entry" on every foreign entry permit (being work, study or anything) just to avoid people falsely believing that they can go into Canada regardless of what citizenship they hold, but as an OZ citizen, you will be allowed entry as long as you satisfy the officer at the port of entry that you will leave once the work permit expires, you should be fine. Just to be safe, bring along the letter of authorization and a police certificate.

To double assure you, ring up their Consulate in Sydney (you can easily search their website on Google)

Hope this helps.

Thank you this reply has helped me a lot and put my mind at ease :)

The other problem is, If I have applied for a new working holiday visa. Will it cancel the one I already have?
