I'm trying to be able to move to Canada. My boyfriend of over a year lives there. I want to go and have it all be legal, and be able to work. Can someone point me in the right direction? It seems that he has to make over 40k a year for us to be able to go there. I can get work without a problem once I'm there and have the right paperwork in order. HELP, what do we do?

Hi,

I am a bit confused about your situation. Are you living with your boyfriend outside of Canada? If so, is he Canadian? The financial requirement is different depending on which class of application you are applying. However, please note that the financial requirement for immigration is usually lower than what you really need for a living in Canada.

I am living in the states, he lives in Canada. He came down with intent of staying for the summer, but needed to go home and deal with some court issues regarding his daughter. So the ex had a judge sign an order that he can't take her out of the province. I have since been up to visit twice, but can't actually move there until next summer. I'd like to get the process started and it just seems like it's totally out of reach. I can't just move with my children and not have some sort of paperwork to be able to sign them up for school. I'm just wondering the easiest way for us to be together. He can't leave the province with his child, I so I have chosen to go there. Would it be easier to go through work?
