Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to CBSA & CRA database? This would really minimize delays in processing citizenship applications. They can easily verify the travel history of the applicants with CBSA records and cross-reference residence requirement against employment details (income, employer, etc.) rent/property tax credits found in CRA's records.

I heard that requesting travel history from CBSA alone requires at least a month. And if only CBSA would stamp the passport every time you leave and enter Canada. This really helps especially if you just crossed the border to check out the premium outlet and came back the same day. :(

RQs could then be reduced to the minimum.

How much power are you willing to give it to the CIC?

Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to our health records?
Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to our bank account details?
Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to the police database?
Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to our phone/cell phone records?
Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to our power/water bills?
Wouldn't it be nice if CIC has direct access to our employer's payroll system?

Every applications will then be done with 72 hours, with no additional information required. :)

What leads you to believe CIC doesn't have access to some of the databases indicated in the list?

It is not just for purposes of checking travel history etc. that questions are asked of applicants. It is also a way to determine credibility to be able to compare answers provided with other data that may also be available.

Also if one relies soley on travel history printouts from the CBSA to enter on an application form that is an error since the printouts may not contain all travel.

The applicant is responsible for providing their own truthful account of information requested and signing that it is truthful and that the information may be shared with certain agencies.

Enforcement Manual #1, start with page 32:

GOOGLE: enf01-eng.pdf

CIC officers are not warlords. We can simply overturn their decision in court if they does not follow proper procedures. This is Canada, not Somalia!

What makes you so sure these databases even exist? I have crossed the border several times w/o even being required to produce identification. Relying on such databases--even if they did exist--would be highly problematic.
