Hi,
It will be helpful if anyone can check this and suggest mistakes.
Many people believe that social networking sites (such as Facebook) have had a negative impact on
both individuals and society. To what extent do you agree?
It is considered by some that social media platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter, have
detrimental implications on people. In my opinion, I completely agree with aforementioned statement
as individuals as well as community have disastrous consequences by using such platforms.
A good reason to not support social networking applications is that these websites are a great threat
to a person's privacy. This is because, nowadays, numerous adolescents post their locations on these
websites just to inform their friends and relatives that they are having good time. As a result, people,
who want to hurt them, can easily track their activities and prepare the plan to hurt their feelings and
sentiments. To illustrate, a recent article from Indian University has described that 93 per cent of
kidnappers utilize Facebook profiles to locate specific person, who they want to abduct. In sort,
increasing trend of social media has a privacy concern to individual user.
Another important point to consider is that society has lost the value of conservative communication
since social media sites have become popular. This is due to almost every person prefer to have a
conversation through these platforms as it is effective and efficient way of the communication.
Consequently, community is losing their emphasis from the face-to-face conversation because websites,
such as Facebook, offer video and audio call functionalities. That is why, people are becoming less social
and avoiding the traditional way of the communication. Overall, social networking applications have had
a significant effects on the social relationship of people.
In conclusion, I believe that such websites have negative influence on community as well as individual
person, because these platforms pose a noticeable threat to a one's privacy and have encouraged
people to almost forget conventional way of communication.
Thank You
