Hi,

My wife scored the following in IELTS exam.

L-8,R-8,W-6.5,S-7

Just fell short by 0.5 in writing. Shall we go for a reevaluation?? Has someone got a positive outcome in reevaluation?

When such scores come out, it gives us the feeling that they are doing it purposely so that candidates resit and ultimately it generates more revenue.
If you people are confident and know that it should be evaluated as 7, then go ahead with re-verification.
If she is not the main applicant, then I don't think this makes any significant difference to your CRS points. Another 2 to 3 points gain for you if she gets 7 in W.

There are cases who have done reevaluation and got their bands revised even by 1 band. And obviously there are cases where the reevaluation returned with no increase. So, it really depends on how strong you think about your case. Re-evaluation takes time, I guess it is 4 to 6 weeks. So that also needs to be factored in. Good Luck

A few people got increased bands after revaluation, however, most of the people i know - never achieved anything with re-evaluation.

IELTS Fraudulent Unethical Practices

My case

1st appearance result L 8.5 R 7 S 7 W 6.5

2 nd appearance result L 8.5 R 7 S 7 W 6.5 Unbelievable results for me. I started doubting my own competency.

Tried three time. Performed exceedingly well in all the four sections. No success.

I did my masters, 5 years experience with an MNC. Daily interactions with American, British counterparts with includes L R S W

I believe the marking, results, are highly manipulated. IT is not based on performance, merits of all the four sections.
Seems fixed revenue targets.

NO CHOICE FOR ASPIRANTS WHO TARGET BAND 9 THEN TO REAPPEAR TILL THEY ACHIEVE THE DESIRED BANDS.

For missing .5 marks in writing, I lost lot of marks around 62 in Express Entry for Canada PR. My present CRS 432. Imagine 482 I would have.

Hope some top executive reads all these complaints and take necessary actions. I doubt as they have Monopoly and increase there revenues by assigning lower bands.

Good luck to all.

And I can see that majority of the people end up with 6.5 in Writing only. Because 0.5 less in writing 60% people will file revaluation and this means INR 7950 credit in their bank accounts. To show people that revaluation works and attract them they give success to some people so that people dont run away from revaluation.

I am the main applicant and have filed my papers for OINP.. CLB9 IELTS was the culprit in my case.. I was saying for revaluation because she was planning to file for Australia and that needs 7 in each..

I had identical scores in IELTS. I was prime applicant. I applied for revaluation and i got that 0.5 band jump in writng section. that bumped my CRS points by 57. But the result took more than 1.5 months.

Without thinking file for recheck. Money time does not matter

.5 increase in writing can increase your points by 50 plus points .
Just do it

My Experince:

1st time: L 8.5 R 9 W 6.5 S 9, CRS 408
2nd time: L 8 R 8 W 6.5 S 9, CRS 416 (because wife's score were better)
3rd time: L 8 R 9 W 6.5 S 9, CRS 416
4th time: L 8 R 7.5 W 7 S 9, CRS 467 (Finally!!!)

I also thought about revaluation all the 3 times, but heard from a lot people and also read on a lot blogs that it will not help.
I took the first three tests through IDP. But the forth time I took it through British Council. I am not saying, British council is better. But, it worked for me.

So, my suggestion, try something different. Write a lot essays before the exam.

Good Luck!!!

Ielts is stuck in its own "policy" , you can be native speaker - but if you dont follow the "ielts standards" then you may not get 9... and these standards have nothing to do with english language.

That's great! What is your CRS now?

Mine is:

1st attempt L7 R8 W7 S6.5 (Crs 400)
2nd attempt L8.5 R7 W7 S6.5 (Crs 414)

Is it possible to have speaking score re-evaluated?

Yes, go for it. But before going ahead check videos by liz on youtube on your possible chances if increase in speaking score. She has a website too where people ask her questions.
