Dear friends,

I am looking for this answer from long time. SPP guidlines on VFS website states that IELTS score to apply under SPP is just overall 6 and I have verified it from many reputed consultants. But situation on the ground is that mostly visa is denied if IELTS score is not equivalent to overall 6 and minimum 5.5 in each module for undergraduate programs and overall 6.5 and mini 6 for graduate programs and the more I am searching for its answer the more confusion is coming to me.

Please provide more information. I would like to know is there someone or knows someone who has got the visa with IELTS score overall 6.5 with minimum of 5.5 in any module for POSTGRADUATE programs for SEPTEMBER 2010 INTAKE.

Thanks..

Hi Maan,

I just dont want to dishearten you but its really difficult to get a Visa with a score of less than 6 in IELTS for a PG course. As per the consultants who are saying that it can be done then please ask them to show the students who had made it through with an IELTS score of less than 6. Also bro most of the consultants just want to make money they will just agree to anything but at the end its the student who suffers. Rest all is ur wish.

Regards,
Hardeep

yes you are eligible to apply under SPP with this IELTS score but not sure about visa. CHC has tighten rules but who knows you may be lucky.

I am a CSIC Canadian consultant in kochi, India. Has been only 4 months since I sent up my office .. had to set up an office because of all these so called "consultants" who are nothing but agents in my opinion. I was talking to Centennial and they wouldn't give admissions to one of my students coz this issue with CHC. SPP requires only 6.0 average and 5.5 min but I suspect 6.5 is what CHC requires for graduate programs. Remember it is not the college requirement that need to met, CHC visa requirements are higher in many cases. Anways you have applied .. lets see what happens .. pls keep us posted

hey maan,

I think the course you have chosen is very unique and according to my knowledge this type of course is not available in India for software professionals.
Although your IELTS score may be a question but the your course is your stong point.

lets hope for the best...if visa officer is convinced you will surely get your visa...and i think embassy dont ask for individual module score...but yes they want over all 6.5 for PG course and you meet the requirement...

It is really not clear as the SPP criteria simply states 6.0 overall with no minimum. But talking to colleges in canada, from their experience there has been rejections because of IELTS not just overall but minimum .. also if the student is applying for Grad certificate, even if college is ok with score, CHC may still refuse. It all very unclear and I haven't been able to get the correct response from CHC. This time of year is very busy period for them and sice SPP is only for India, the operation manuals for visa officers don't address this issue either.

hello amathen,

Can you predict my case according to my situation. Its as follow -

I have passed 4 year B.tech in Compter Engg. in 2008 and my case is similar to maan86 as my IELTS score is also overall 6.5 with min 5.5. I have got admission in Centennial College 1 year Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics for Software Professionals. Only students with 4 year Computer Engg. Degree are eligbile to apply for this program. I have done training in a IT company from Feb to July 2009 and after that have done job as software engg. for 8 months. I have paid my 1st term tuition and have taken 8 lac of education loan and 3 lacs in the form of FDs. My father is ex govt. employee and now owns a petrol pump to support my financial requirments. According to you wat are my chances of getin visa.

The IELTS part is not as clear as what is stated on SPP or any other document. I would say if the college has given you admissions based on this score and you certainly have met all the financial requirements and the fact that your program is not common in India .. I would say you have a very good chance .. so don't worry, everything looks good.

Having said that I know that there have been some visa refusals just based on students using Unauthorized Reps to do your visa documentation .. usually the so called "educational consultants" .. this is a another type of risk as CHC I think gets nervous as many bank loans and stuff can be fake.. orchstrated by the consultant .. it is india after all and a bank manager may look for ways to supplement his income just by giving out a letter without the actual loan ..for a price ofcourse i am sure :)

if you did all the stuff yourself or with assistance from just a friend or family and you did NOT tell the bank mananger (even on legit loans) to write the approval letter wording ... it should be all ok.

Hello everybody,

In SPP should i submit medical before or after submiting file which is more benficial and How much time will it take if i submit my application in the embassy without medical in Chandigarh CHC.
