IELTS requirement for sponsoring spouse

Hello all, I recently received my permanent residence and am planning to get married very soon. I am wondering if there is any IELTS requirement for my future wife. I read it in a newspaper (Metro) once that CIC is planning to implement this but lost that reference. Now I cannot find it online.

Also, can someone kindly tell me what is the best and fastest way to file the spouse sponsor application. The way I know is to apply through family sponsorship which takes over an year. It would be great if someone could suggest more faster way. First apply for visitor visa, once she is here then sponsor her?

Nope. No requirement for IELTS.

What country would you be sponsoring her from? It makes a difference in the advice you will receive.

There's no IELTS requirement, the English requirement is only being discussed but not seriously considered.

India spousal case don't take very long.

Majority of the cases are approved within a year span.

This is better than many other visa offices around the world.

Hi,

We were in the same boat as you. My husband received PR and we married soon after. Foremost its very difficult to get Visitor visa if husband is PR, its a different story when you are in work permit. So better apply for her TRV soon. you can give her invitation letter as her fiance.
Once you are married, she can come to Canada and you can do your Outland App. from Canada. Or you can do it in India and she can visit when she wants. But the important thing is the TRV. You can search the threads here to know about the TRV refusals.

Sorry for the late reply, just wanted to update the thread as I told.

So I have good news! CIC granted visitor visa for my fiance. I proved to them that she has to go back based on her college status.
