IELTS or another proof?

Hi. I am a foreigner and I have been living in the US for 12 years. I received my Bachelor Degree from an US University and I work for an American Company. Do I still need to take the IELTS or is there another way to prove my proficiency in English? Is there anyone here who is or was in the same position? Is there anyone here who did not take the IELTS?

        I am also in such situation, I am in USA since 2006 Jan and pursuing my PhD here......in addition I also got a publication on a book from this country(USA) which is definitely in English by CRC Press (Taylor and Franscis Group).So I was also wondering wheter any alternative there other than IELTS.My TOEFL is already expired by now.Any comments from senior members regarding the above topic will be appreciated

its always better to take the IELTS exam; that's what I heard from many fellow friends who are applying under the skilled worker category. I am currently living and working in the US for about 4 years and have completed my Bachelors and Masters from here and even I am taking the exam.

I have sent my application to the attorney with the english letter explaining how I am using english in my personal and professional life here, also have mentioned my old TOEFL score. I have asked for the IELTS waiver and worst they can do is, ask for it at later date, I suppose.

I need to get the highest score in all 4 session to get the 16 points. If I do not get it, how long do I have to wait to take another test and how many times can I take it?

You have to ask the people where you can take it. I suppose you pay to take it. I suppose you can take it as many times as you want. The score you like best is the one you sent to immigration.

u can take it as many times as u want but u have to wait at least 3 months after next test

I think you still have to take the IELTS General Training.

Few times? thats $160 per test! lot of money! You do need a minimum of 7 right out of 9?

7 is considered moderate?

So you have to score High to get considered. Wow, tough requirements.

I still don't understand the point system. Does it matter if English was my first or second language?

Immigration asks you to pick one official language as your better (first) language and the other as your second language. If your English is better than your French, English is your "first" language by immigration even when it's not the first language you learned.
