Dear All,

Hope you all are doing great! Me n my wife have applied under express entry almost an year an half ago.
My wife as a primary applicant Scored (LRWS 8.5 - 8.5 - 6.5 - 7) for her IELTS which seems to be a bit unfortunate as per the requirement of CLB 9. Our Current IELTS score stands at 403 & the IELTS Test results is due to expire in September'16
Does any of you see a way round to this?
Please Guide. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks.
Rohit

The required IELTS scoring to achieve CLB 9 for LRWS should be (8-7-7-7) I believe hence we are missing out on by just .5 score in Writing :(

Re: LRWS 8.5 - 8.5 - 6.5 - 7 (Missing out on CLB 9 by .5 in Writing) Any Guidance?

I faced a similar situation (missed 0.5 in writing, which gave me CLB 8 ).

Strongly recommend you to retake IELTS. It will give you so much extra points that would be really hard to get in any other way.

Appreciate your quick response on the query!

Did you retake the test too as the such high scores are nowhere guaranteed again I'm sure.

Is it really worth to pay fees for the IELTS Re-Test and take chance again ? Also If my wife appears for the re-test as a primary applicant and gets a higher score do I also need to appear for the re-test again even before my current IELTS score gets expired in Sep'16.

Thanks Again

Dear Friend,

I would strongly suggest you to go for re-valuation. I had the same problem, applied for re-valuation and was lucky enough to get the desired (.5) score. So its better you apply for re-valuation (writing alone).

Let the luck favor you. Best wishes.

I suggest that you both prepare well and retake your test. It helps with getting higher score tremendously.

Request for revaluation should be made within six weeks of the test date on the Test Report Form. It looks like the OP is way beyond six weeks, their IELTS is expiring this September.

oops...my mistake. I didn't notice it.

Dear Rohit219, sorry. Guess retake is the only option.

That's True Stan and akiigops

Our Test Scores are expiring in Sep'16.

Unfortunately we never realised that there is an option of Re-valuation.

Please suggest if you can think of any way around this to compensate the deficit of .5 score in writing and qualify for CLB9

Thanks
Rohit

Yes, writing score is short by 0.5 to get CLB 9. If it is CLB 9, did you try checking what your score would be? May be you can use this tool to calculate the score http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp.

With 403 you are eligible to receive PT NOI from Ontario. But lately, there has been a temporary hiatus from Ontario in issuing fresh PTs. Looks like they may start again in May. Lets assume that that you get OINP PT NOI in May and you submit all the documents before end of May, OINP will take at least 100 days to get back to you with an AOR and may be another 60-90 days with the nomination. By then, your wife's IELTS would have expired and the profile would become ineligible, so would suggest that you guys retake IELTS now as you may get a date only 1-2 months ahead. Also, if you have not taken IELTS, it would be a good idea to consider taking IELTS. As a co-applicant, you can get up to a maximum of 20 points.

Hi Stan,

Many Thanks for the detailed response to the query.

I've taken IELTS too n my Individual IELTS score is 6.5 i.e LRWS 6.5-6.5-6.5-6 which is supposed to be decent too I guess.

Our only worry now is to re-appear for the test and score again this high which is very unlikely despite paying another 20+K for the Re-Test.

Literally Feeling Gutted!

:(

There is no legal way around to compensate low language test scores (no matter if it is 0.5 or 100.5 points) to get higher CLB. I believe if such way would exist, Canada would be flooded with economic migrants w/o basic knowledge of English or French.

Just write the test again, simple as that and make sure you nail that score. Has happened with me. Honestly, I never knew that importance of IELST score and gave the first one fairly casually. Only that I got a 7 in Listening which screwed up my band of 9. Appeared again after 4 months and now I am at CLB 9. There is no other way around this.

Rohit,

Ontario wud have extended PNP nomination above 400..what happened with that? or you did not receive one?

Till beginning this year, they were extending the same..

FSW1 is only one of the ways..there are many going under PNP as well..

Regards.

Book your IELTS slot, practice well and give it a shot. That is the only option that you have now. For tips on IELTS, you can check this thread http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/ielts-international-english-language-testing-system-b53.0/

I had the same. Go for reevaluation. Though they took 6months to do so, I'm able to reach 430 from 390 crs
