I want to ask can one get away with the requirement of passing an IELTS exam, given that one is a specialist doctor and all my education has been in English. I am a non-native English speaker. It is possible to get a certificate from my university certifying that all my education has been in english.

It is advised for non english natives to appear in IELTS.

Regards,
Pankaj

yes there is a way,u can send an explanatory letter, claiming that u have an Ample knowledge of English but its all depend on ur Immigration officer weather he Accept it or not or Ask u to write an IELTS or refuse ur application immediately, and if accept they can assign u to his desire points that can be 16 or can be 0 ,so y take a risk.

i heard somewhere that .IO ask to write an IELTS from an Oxford graduate.

You can write a letter as mentioned earlier by someone, however it is highly recommended that you take the IELTS test if your native language is not english. If your education has been in English then why are you worried about taking the test. You can easily get the required marks with little prepration.

All the best !!

if you are from non-english speaking country then it is highly recommended that you take ielts..

Actually you can write a letter explaining your efficiency in English langauge. I was in same dilemma. When I sent my application, sent a letter explaining my education and my 8 years experience in US. Recently received PPR and sent it for visa stamping. Home this helps.

Dear Sunny,

CIC doesn't compel u to take IELTS. They ONLY have a scoring system for Language capabilities. One may safely choose to ignore it, at a risk of scoring less for those points, if u think ur total points shall be enough. All the CIC wants is SOME proof. It might be by way of IELTS (or CELPIP) OR A 'Written Evidence'.

However, the Written Evidence is NOT CONCLUSIVE. You are then at the mercy of the VO. Note CICs Own Words:

/Quote/
"If you believe that you can clearly demonstrate your level of proficiency through a written submission, follow the instructions in the table below... CIC strongly advises that you ONLY CHOOSE this option if your first language is English or French (READ MOTHER TONGUE)... Note: Test results will be used as conclusive evidence of your language proficiency"...
/Unquote/

The bottomline is, if one thinks he/she can garner enough points thru the other 'selection criterions', he/she can ignore the Tests and can ONLY SUBMIT the Written Evidence. The same is well detailed in the IMM-7000, Application Guide.

But generally speaking, it is always good to take the IELTS (or CELPIP).

Regards.

Many thanks. I did an IELTS exams 2 years go, now expired. Will Immigration Officer accept results of an expired exam and do I need to sit a current one. The problems is that results expire within a year.

if you have applied ur immigration on that time when ur ielts was not expired then no need to take ielts again.
