Hello there,

Guys, I can't find the answer to this question on the CIC Website, just different answers from random websites. I'm arriving in Canada in August with an OWP (valid for 3 years) and my wife is holding a SP, 3 years as well.

There's this opportunity to start a job in the city I'll be moving to, but the job requires an IEC visa. The question is: If I apply for an IEC visa, will my actual work visa be canceled? I know that I will get my OWP just on the border, when arriving in Canada, now I have just the Work Visa stamped on my passport.

Your open work permit should not be cancelled, according to diverse previous discussions held here, however it is nowhere clearly stated on CIC website. Many people have 2 close permits at same time but your situation is a bit different.
When you are going to apply for your IEC visa, they will however know you already have an open work permit.
Why do you need a IEC visa ? Would they not be satisfied with an open work permit ??

What you are saying makes no sense. An IEC is just another type of OWP. An employer can't require that you hold a specific type of OWP.

Also, from your previous posts, you are from Brazil and therefore don't even qualify for IEC.

Ok I believe you're a bit lost here. IEC has more than one time of permit. AISEC is a Recognized Organization which can represent Brazil and India. The type of permits that AIESEC is allowed to work with is the employer-especif one! I really can't sign a contract with them with my OWP.

So this job is through AIESEC. The type of permits that AIESEC is allowed to work with is the employer-especif one! I really can't sign a contract with them with my OWP. That's what they're saying to me.

Explaining the full situation upfront would have helped, i.e. it is a Young Professionals permit through an RO.

You should contact the employer directly and see if they will hire you outside of the RO with your OWP.

IRCC shouldn't cancel the current TRV but if they do, they will issue a new one.
