Good Morning All,

Pls I require some clarification, my potential employer has filed and received a Positive LMIA for me, this LMIA is however a Permenent Resident Stream.

I would like to know if I can use this LMIA to support a Work Permit application if I can, what class of work permit would it be.

Type of Employment: Indefinite/Permanent

I look forward to your responses and guidance.

Yes you can, it will be a closed work permit tied to the specific employer.

Can you shed more light please? see more details below:

I have a positive LMIA and Job offer from a Canadian Employer.

*This LMIA contents are bit confusing on the one hand It states that*:

This positive LMIA is issued with reference to your stated commitment to support a permanent residence application only (this means the employer will hire the foreign national only after the permanent resident visa is issued).

*While on the second hand it also states:*

WORK PERMIT OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY APPLICATION

Employers must provide copies of this LMIA Letter and the annexed Employment Details page to the foreign

nationals in order for them to apply for a work permit or permanent residency.

I seek an expert opinion to know if I can use this LMIA to successfully apply for a Work Permit, and if I can, what class of Work permit will that be. Please note that I am currently outside of Canada.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

LMIA Stream: Permanent Resident

LMIA Validity Period: XXXXXX, 2022*

*Please take note that the foreign worker(s) must apply to IRCC for a work permit or permanent residency* prior to this date.

No one is an "expert" in this group. This thread is specific to GSS ICT processing timelines. So, would advise you to talk your attorney provided by your employers. If you don't have any, then join the group below.

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing fine during these unprecedented times! I understand we all are in the same boat. If you can add your information to the sheet below. It will help all of us to be informed and see if IRCC is following any pattern. None of the information asked is confidential, or something you haven't provided already on the Canada Visa Forum. It's just an easy way to manage/access information.

IRCC mentioned on twitter that they have extended the outage but without any further date.

Not sure it’s just for their “Online Service Help” which they mentioned in their last tweet or it is also impacting the Visa Processing…

It should not affect the processing of visa. However, we would be unable to login in to our Gckey accounts or receive anything from visa office.

Seems like our attorneys won’t get any update about the Visa even though it’s processed and consequently we just have to wait for the further response whenever IRCC resume these services.

Thanks for sharing this sheet. I would also request everyone to fill the same. It's nice to have all the information, we all are looking for, collated at one place.
Nice initiative!
